Q. How long have you been using the ArmorGames Forums? A. I think I started a bit after Spring '09.
Q. Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? A. I think English is considered the main language and whilst many members are multilingual, people rarely converse in other languages and they suggest that those whom don't speak in English start to.
Q. What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames? A. There are made up words like armatar and such but they're not necessarily specific to the forums. There are no existing English words with different definitions (or words simply used in different contexts) but there are made up words specific to Armor Games: armatar, AP, etc.
Q. Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary? A. Definitely not necessary but if you intend on a post that can (and will) be interpreted easily and correctly it's best to use correct spelling and grammar. Good use of punctuation and correct spelling also makes discussion look more sophisticated. Q. Why do you use these forums? A. Discussion and debate.
Q. When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community? A. Not really. Everyone is quite intellectual so it's not difficult to feel comfortable in something like a forum where intellectual discussion is what the entire thing revolves around.
Q. Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment? A. No.
How long have you been using the ArmorGames Forums? About a month or two?
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? What? No?
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames? Uhhhhh.... I dunno
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary? 1F U R1TE 11k3 7H1s or LIke ThIs. But sometimes, yeah.
Why do you use these forums? To talk, maybe make friends, and or I feel like it.
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community? A little. But when I started posting in a lot of threads people know me now.
Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment? No. Lol
How long have you been using the ArmorGames Forums? Since September 5th 2008. Almost two years.
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? Proper English, I assume? Considering that many users have another first language than English, there of course will be many times where this simply is not possibly, but for the better of it, as proper English as possible to make yourself understood, and not misunderstood. Chat speak and the like simply degrades any discussion, and makes you very hard to take seriously.
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames? Back to back. That one. As far as I can tell, in most other contexts, this actually means to double/triple/+ post. In AG terms, or at least concerning the "Count to 100" thread, it means to have two people post continually, switching from one to another. Others would be something like "AP", "Armatars" and the like.
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary? For this site? I do believe, as already mentioned, that people should make an effort when writing, to make themselves understood. I have never been a fan of people who are unwilling to write in proper English, but there is of course a difference between unable, and unwilling.
Why do you use these forums? It's so much fun. Or rather, we have a bunch of good natured people that are worth talking to, quite some discussions, and if nothing else, I have a job to do.
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community? I don't think I actually made an effort in becoming part of the community. I just sad back, observed and came with my point of view if I found it to be worth it. And from there, I grew on the community, and it grew on me. So no, I would not say it was hard to become part of it. I just think it has to take its time.
Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment? I was actually think about making an assignment on AG as well. But that is irrelevant. I think you should go take a sample post/thread from each of the section to show the great difference in how people act/write in the different sections. Users being prone to chat speak in the forum games, long paragraphs in the WeRP and so on. It might do something.
Everyones' responses are longer than mine(s. O_O). I rushed... lol. And when I said 13 or so I was sorta lying... xD
*EDIT
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? English is preferred. I can speak Chinese, a little French, a little Japanese, a little Spanish, and a little Korean. The main language in AG is English so if someone posted Chinese in a thread that was about Americans that would be awkward.
How long have you been using the ArmorGames Forums? 2 Months.
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? Only english. If the website's name is "armorgames" i doubt the language used on forums will be german.

Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? I strongly encourage English if you want to be understood. DON'T USE 1337!!!! It's very annoying and immature in my opinion.
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames? No, I haven't been a member of the communty to notice any terms I haven't heard on other forums.
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary? Most definitely, without it the forum would look unprofessional and extremely hard to understand. jtsu imagiin eff i talkd leik thsi. See my point?
Why do you use these forums? I use these forums to just hang out, talk, and have fun with other Flash game fanatics. :3
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community? Of course not! It was extremely easy for me. My introductory had about 9 pages of people greeting me and talking, so I would say they liked me the first day I was here. The AG community is full of kind people.
Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment?

Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? No.
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames? Nah, never heard any.
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary? Yes, bad grammar is polluting armorgames. Those users are killing it. STOP POLLUTING! DO YOU WANT ARMORGAMES TO BECOME DEAD!
Why do you use these forums? I came here just to stay in the forum games.
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community? No, I never tried to socialize when I came. Neither did I post in the Newcomers thread.
Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment? Stop stalking people with age.
If you don't want to actually answer all the questions, you shouldn't answer any. In statistics and question sheets, all questions have a meaning, and any sheet that has not been answered fully will be removed from the final product because it isn't useful at all. It is obviously important to the assignment as he has included that, instead of, say, country. The opinion on the use of language most likely differs up through the ages, and thus he put it in to have an perspective in the assignment. So, good job at not helping.
How long have you been using the ArmorGames Forums?
Since December 1st, 2009, about a week after I joined (also when I got my first merit )
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums?
Semi-proper English please. I find it okay to use smileys, but people who have terrible English are a major pain. People who can't speak English aren't an exception, but I can understand; people who can speak English but prefer to speak in their own variant are extremely annoying and I cannot take them seriously.
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames?
Other than our own terms (AP, Merit, etc.), most are pretty much the same. We don't have too much variation, which is probably why it's easier to come to from other forums. Not too much changes.
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary?
Absolutely. It's okay to have slightly below average spelling and grammar (for instance, capitalization of 'I', but what really matters is proper spelling and sentence structure. If they don't have sentence structure that's legible, I have to become a grammar Nazi and try to have them rewrite it. That's not fun, is it?
Oh, and I hate it when people don't space after colons and periods. I absolutely hate that.
Why do you use these forums?
Cheap fun. I enjoy how everyone isn't a total arse to everyone else. It very much improves the atmosphere of it here.
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community?
No. It was extremely easy to integrate into the community. The people are friendly, the layout doesn't make me want to smash my computer, and the threads outside of the Tavern and gaming forums maintain decent quality. I still go to the Tavern frequently though.

Since July 12th
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums?
English? Haha. It seems like that is the official language of these forums. Obviously, if you cannot speak English, that's cool, but don't make your own variant of English.
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames?
Not much. There are terms that relate to the site, such as [AP] or [Merit]. Things like that.
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary?
For sure. How else can you understand what that person is saying? Its very annoying and it just makes things harder for people.
Why do you use these forums?
Its fun here. Not as it used to be, but there are some cool people, and the topics are always very random hah.
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community?
Nope. There are friendly people here and they welcomed me. The layout is nice and easy to use (and look at).
Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment?
How long have you been using the ArmorGames Forums? A year more or less.
Do you believe that a specific language style is needed to use these forums? No, the important is being understandable. Every person has it's unique writing style, therefore having a specific language would be hard to implement. Also it would restrict a bit their freedom of expression.
What terms do you know of that are specific to these forums, such as words which have a different meaning in the context of ArmorGames? Mostly abbreviations, such as AG (ArmorGames), AMW (Art Music Writing) etc. The AMW is an interesting abbreviations, cause only some users know what it really means.
Do you believe good spelling and grammar is necessary? Good spelling, yes, but it's not a big deal if you make few mistakes per sentence. Grammar is also needed, because it's absence in the majority of the cases leads to misunderstandings. Finally, we have to accept that the persons who don't come from English-speaking countries will make a mistake once in a while, hence no user should correct their grammar harshly.
When you first joined, did you find it hard to become part of the community? No, for some reason they accepted me quite quickly. I am still wondering why.
Do you have any other notes you think may be helpful for me in my assignment? Make a pie chart for the ages, pies are awesome!
