Lol I just made that comment after England scored in the first 4 minutes.
A tie for the US in the situation is as good as a win. We're certainly not going to lose to Slovenia or Argentina - of course I doubt England will either. So it will be England and the US to advance to the second round from this group. But the US needs to focus now on attacking the goal. They must have an indicator (aggregate) score that's better than England. Otherwise, we end up playing Spain in the 2nd round, I think. That won't go too well - although we did beat Spain about a year ago in some confederation cup.
I had a great day watching the football yesterday. Wake up head to the pub at 3 for the Argentina match, with the exception of the 6th minute goal was pretty boring.
Stayed around until the England v USA match, had great atmosphere in the build up and really enjoyed it with the lads.
Match got off to a great start with the Steve Gerrard goal. This made me especially happy because he is the captain of my fantasy football team.
Typical with an England performance, get an early goal then we shut up shop, but the goal margin was too thin. In the end it was a soft goal due to keeper error which decided which particularly disappointed me.
Dempsey's celebration was pretty annoying because you would think he had just scored the best goal in the world when really the keeper tried to stop a basic shot and spilled it into the goal.
I'm not sure if Capello should stick with Green now. I'm personally a big David James fan. We really need good performances against the other two teams to still try and get to the top of the group.
Well I think that's enough said, still recovering from 12 hour drinking session yesterday. Looking forward to next England match on Friday.
