I just saw the new Xbox design at the Microsoft Xbox briefing from 1:30-3:00 p.m. If any one else has seen it yet, do you think that it is a good thing? It has a 250 gigabyte hard drive, and the most powerful built in wifi, and they said it is very quiet now.
Here's a question: was the loudness an actual issue with the fans (even brand new) or was it simply people's negligence towards cleaning the fan?
So about this new design, is it just a larger hard hard drive, less budget fans and better internet connectivity? And how much are they charging for it?
$299 USD, same as the current Xbox. It looks pretty cool, but I (nor are my parents) am not really willing to drop 300 bucks just for a bigger hard drive, wifi, and cool design. Besides, I already have an Elite Xbox with a 128-gig hard drive. A video just came out in the Spotlight (In the dashboard) that details the new features.
So you think 250 isnt enough for a CONSOLE?!?!? my xbawks only has 20gigabyte hard drive, ive had it fore like over 3 years and it is extremely loud and freezes sometimes. I kinda hope it explodes so that it gives me an excuse to get the new one, wich is exact same price.
I have to say that the new xbox looks really cool, and they say they have improved its performance. Let's see if it doesn't have red rings of death any more.
I'm looking at the picture of it now, and it looks messed up. It looks like the heater I have in my basement. Plus, now they're just taking the built-in wi-fi from Sony's PS3. Microsoft better make this one a hell of a lot better than the 360. I'm not going to buy it of course. I have had a grudge on Microsoft ever since my Xbox 360 got the 1 red ring, and my warranty was expired by only one week. Sure, Natal looks kinda cool, but I'm really happy about the PlayStation Move. I think the games with Natal are going to be limited without a controller. Anyways, just giving my 2 cents.
-Built in wi-fi -75% of the xbox 360's size -250hdd harddrive is standard -"quieter" fan ( I think there's one large one instead of 2 small or vice-versa) -Same price as the elite (300$ US) -Available this week.
now they're just taking the built-in wi-fi from Sony's PS3.
Funny how no one cares that Microsoft an Sony wait around for a new idea like motion controls to come out (Wii) and then they jump on it and take the ideas. Wii and ps3 both have built in wifi, ps3 only came out 8 days before wii (November 11, 2006)
It's really not stealing the concept of built-in wifi. Seeing as Microsoft is the leader in home computers, I think they might have had their hands in this a lot longer than both Nintendo and Sony. The difference is, they took their time to design this, unlike the other consoles. Just look at the motion sensors for all three systems, Sony's Eye Toy was an epic fail, Nintendo did a better job, but it's still stubborn as heck. Now Xbox has refined it, to be a more user-friendly experience.
I'm not too excited about the new Xbox though, I just got my own Xbox less than 60 days ago, and now it's considered obsolete. And the integrated hard drive better work properly. I've spend countless hours trying to tell people it's not the console, rather the hard drive that went bad. **Sigh** Now to figure out how to repair the new consoles, so I can keep my brother and I in the repair business.
It has a new placement apparently, i think's it's sort of on the side instead of on top now...
The new harddrive is once again changeable/removable, however due to the new design it is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH OLDER MODELS. The old harddrives can't be used with new xbox's either. It'll be interesting to see how you can transfer information from different generation harddrives.
