Ok, so I'm a football (soccer) fanatic, and I was wondering now that the world cup was on that we could have tipping threads. Don't know what tips are? Well it's exactly like betting on games except you don't win from 1 match, you have to tip all matches and whoever has the most correct tips in the end wins a prize.
So...is it allowed?
And if so, technically it is a contest, but would a merit be a...option? Like if the thread was VERY popular and more 20 people showed up and it promised good things? Or would encouraging gambling be a bad idea for merits.
I'm not sure if this is the right place. So...I will just ask anyway.
Merits are given out for very good pieces of writing. Mostly game comments, but a few AMW threads have the honor as well. So I don't believe giving a merit for this is really an option.
I guess you could start a thread in the World Events, or better, Forum games! This is kind of a game, seeing as it's fun and there isn't really a prize (maybe a funny title).
I don't see why anyone should get a merit for making guesses. And I don't see why there should be a thread giving one gloating rights on making good guesses. And that's not at all what the World Cup is about.
And it's not guesses. It's observing skills. All teams aren't the same. They all have different strengths and weaknesses. Some teams have a bad coach. Some teams are bad working together. Some teams are fast and fit, but have a bad back line.
It's not guesses. Not at all.
It's like sonny. Are all builds the same? No. So, lets guess what we want.
