I've noticed for a while now that a lot of people don't really put much effort into commenting on a game and how irritating for the developer or people who want to play the game this could be. Also that when a comment gets merited nothing much happens and it gets lost in the vast expanse of garbage comments. I was thinking wouldn't it be more useful if these comments or one comment were somehow more accessible then they are now like being stickied or there being a button you can click to view them all.

Merited comments become bold, so they are quite easier to notice.
there being a button you can click to view them all.

That could be useful.

Funnily, this has been a trend for a year and a half, more or less.

I guess making the merits easier to find would be good for the few people who depend on them to figure out of they want to play the game or not, and for the game dev. Otherwise, it just makes it a thousand times easier to cheat to get a merit. And about as easy to figure out if the comment is valid or not. However, if they are moved from their current position in the line of comment, it will be somewhat hard to find the cheating (if the comment is only on the first page), as most mods look from old to new, to be able to see if comments has been copy pasted by other users.
Yeah, I am a pessimist.

See, the only problem that people are NOT doing merited comments is that when they make one, they want the moderators to see it. It's hard to get a merit so that's why.

You mean like YouTube? Instead of rates, merits? I think Merited comments should be at the top, and separated from all the other comments in a way.

Thougth wouldn't it be easier to check for copied and pasted merits if you have all of them in one easy to look for place?

I understand it must be harder for mods but right now most of the comments on the games have absolutely no value. So what would be the point of having them if they are mostly just plain spam for points?

I wonder if anyone has thought of this, but could there be two tabs near the comments, the default one labeled "recent comments" which would work as the system does now, and "merited comments" which would show the merited-awarded comments?

This would make it easier for people to find great reviews of a game. And while it would make it easier for people to copy-paste comments and attempt to take credit for the writing, it would also make it easier for mods to find those who have tried to pass off someone else's work as their own.

Great idea, that's my opinion, you could also have a special merit, comment box for comments applying for merits, that would mean finding them for the mods way easier, and you wouldn't get points for commenting through that box, unless you were awarded a merit.
That would keep people from spamming there.

I think there should be rated comments, where comments with the most rates gets to the top, then a moderator merits it, and it's permanently up there.

There's something I've always wondered, and the answer could affect the feasablity of the the suggested display fo merit comments.
How often do comments get merited?
If there aren't many comments on a particular game that have recieved merits, it means that the reviewer can just look at comments side-by-side with the merited comments to check for plagarizm.
However, if a large number of comments recieve merits, than it would become to cumbersome to check in person, meaning that someone may only have to change a few words to get past an automatic reviewer.

It is really depressive when you make a merit-worthy review, and it never gets merited. A good thing is to make a merit-worthy review without waiting for it get merited. Telling a moderator about it is just a bad idea.

Besides, chance is your review isn't merit-worthy, and that you are the one bringing yourself pain by thinking it is, being annoyed the mods hasn't seen it yet, and generally start getting somewhat paranoid on that field.

When there is given 3-4 merits in 30 pages, one can just wonder if the mods are stricter, or people just don't care to try...

But I like seeing one letter comments and a thousand "it's okay i guess" comments.
