Now, I don't want to tell you guys how to do your jobs, but this is a suggestion. This suggestion will regard mainly the way to deal with all infractions based on messages (spamming, trolling, flaming, excessive swering and use of slurs, etc) If this does not interrest you, you may not read the rest and I will respect that.
Now I am basing these suggestions based on the fact that this community is growing.
1.Ban system. I understand, correct me if I'm wrong, someone makes a complaint if the moderators feel that there should be something done here, then they ban the person for the reason they feel is correct. I would suggest a system where you have a section opened to the public, where you can post a ban request. Then, send an Email to the person with the ban. if they feel like it, they can appeal and get a "fair trial".
2. De-Merit system If you get a ban, there should be a system to keep track of those things and it may or may not decrease your points (opposite of Merits) and this can also display publically who have commited these infractions to keep an extra eye on them.
3. Rules I have read and understand the rules of the forum and i personally would raffine them. For example, the rule about not complaining if you got banned, just makes the staff here look bias in my opinion. I understand that you don't want to get harassed all day by someone who got banend, but that's the way it works. And hey, if they got a fair trial what do they have to cry about? Another example would be the anti-spam rule. Now I understand you have a 30 second wait period, wich just pisses off the spammer, but doen't stop him. If you don't believe it, check my profile. Now spam may have many different meanings or definitions to different people, meaning you will have to explain more precisely the meaning of the term.
4. Spam/Flaming section No one is immuned from spamming or flaming, especially forums. my suggestion to you would simply be to give a section entirely to spamming and flaming (either light flaming or excessive flaming) will have to be contented in this section. That way, people who feel the need to do so, can in the appropriate place and the appropriate time, reducing flaming greatly in all other places ( I can tell you from my personnal experience where n a forum we had a section for flamer's high horse)
5. A search Bar inside the forums Every time I want to either learn about something or want to create a new topic and I don't know if it already exist. This will also make it easyer to track old posts you've posted in. Also having a page with all the members when you want to find someone with ease.
That will be all for now. I have kept all my suggestions as brief as possible and if you wish I could further explain or develop these suggestions.
I would like to appologise for any mistakes or mis-usage of certain words as English is not my first language.
A vBulletin forum, a real one, has probably 50 more features than this one. Take a look. I'm not saying this isn't a real forum, just, a forum with certain aspects many forums have. I'm not asking for all the features, but it seems that this has nothing compared to that.
The devs don't wanna do IP bans, but like most websites it is possible for ArmorGames to theoretically display the IPs of it's visitors. It was a mod thing. Still works here and there, but it's mostly broken and thus unreliable.
Why? Does it have to do with implementation? I personally believe that IP banning is a good thing to have. It'll discourage people and force them to use proxies.
knight_34, I feel the same way but since this forum was made by scratch and not with an actual software, it has to be limited to the bare minimal, or else it lags.

Something about legal issues. Ask Carlie.

With the exception of lacking an edit button, I MUCH prefer the simplicity of AG's forum to a more "normal" one. This is just my personal opinion, though. It's something about the developers having coded the entire site pretty much from scratch. They didn't use a standard forum template, hence there is less stuff here.
i don't think people understand the fact that AG is a dictatorship
The "you were spamming purely for AP" is an assumption that obviously isn't necessarily true. However, if you weren't spamming for AP you were apparently just spamming for the sake of spamming, and that's honestly just dumb (any kind of spamming is, but at least the AP lovers have a goal).
Onto something else, I'd like to see some more features here, whilst simplicity and user friendliness is kept. That will take some thought, but I believe that can be done. How about um... better search function? I expect a few of the best suggestions to be implemented.
Here on Armor Games, the easiest way to increase the size of you electronic penis is by amassing AP as fast as possible. The longer it is, the more bragging rights you are entitled to.
Post count is another bragging right I see, though not as much as AP is. You can't just get 10,000 posts out of nowhere. Though you could get 10,000 AP in a month if you tried to.

However, spamming like that will also give you erectile dysfunction, making your e-penis not work.
it's also very easy to get around via proxies.
Or just reassigning your IP, something that is very easy to do.

Most newbies don't understand that. Once you're on here enough, you soon realize that.
To sum it up: The staff of AG does not want to get into legal trouble. At all. This means they are not very interested in getting into contact with the internet provider of a given idiot, that keeps harassing everyone, they are not going to ban IPs, because it might reflect on others as well, and they could get into more trouble because they are banning someone innocent from using the site.
On the issue of "We should ttly use IP-bans/only one person per IP allowed"... I share my internet connection with 25 people. I log on at school (that is approximately 400 people using the same IP), or at the library (undefined number). If, perhaps, a person at any of these locations decide to make an account, or had made one before I came around... I would not have been allowed on this site, or the other person would not have. Say a such person got IP-banned. Suddenly it reflects a lot of people, and in all those cases, you would not know who to scream at for being an idiot. And if someone is really persistent anyway, there is, as mentioned, proxies. Using someone else's internet connection (If I may sum up, I have at least... 8 different internet connections to leech on, 4 of which are public, 2 that would effect people who doesn't even care about me, and 2 where people would hunt me down and beat me up, if I crewed something up). So yeah, IP-bans are trouble if you are a major site, and scared of legal action/has a reputation to think of/does not want people to call them at night and yell at them.

I agree. I have been on a few of those "make your own forum"-forums. I have even made some myself in my innocent and stupid period of life. This here is simple and easy to use, won't have people hurting your eyes through multiple functions used, and more importantly, as a regular mod, you have a simple, limited area of action, and all mods have the same simple, limited area of action, instead of "Supar mods" and "juniar mods" and "Imma God-mods". Simple but useful. To mention another forum that works simple (as far as I can see), there is the deviantART-forums. You don't have many codes to use, most keep to the simple ways... And there is no way to edit your posts there either. Do people complain and miss it? Rarely.
I was spamming to increase the size of my penis.
Look through your spam inbox, there would probably be better way than getting in trouble for breaking rules.

I don't own a spam inbox. I don't have a personal email, other than for work, made by where i work and i only recieve stuff from/related to work.
No but seriously, thanks for explaining all your justice system guys. I will stop posting in this thread to not spam and post any more useless posts from my part.

Agreed. This forum, or at least this part of it, is here to provide a place to voice ideas, not provide a breeding ground for gaudy ASCII art or fancy formatting. It's here for text, so simplicity makes sense. We don't need more features in the forum. At least, not any features that pertain to the actual text.
