I think that game comments should require a minimum of 50 words. That way Merit Worthy comments are piled on top of by comments like: Good, Bad, Cool, boring.

50 words is quite a lot for a minimum. You can make totally valid comments on games that are a lot shorter than that, and most game reviews that are gonna be merit worthy will be a fair bit longer...

Plus, if people still want to spam, they can just copy/paste a word or three until they have fifty, which will actually make merit worthy comments harder to spot - easiest way at the moment is to scroll down a page of very short spam and look for the blob of text.

Don't quite understand what you mean by it being piled on top of the short ones.

Well It doesn't have to be fifty, maybe 25?

I mean merit Worthy comments are bumped down by spam.

Well I'm Sure you can tell that a comment only has on word however many times.

Doesn't change anything... you can still copy-paste.

So how does this help spam then? It's just as easy to spot a one-word comment saying "cool" or something. So this doesn't make the mods' job any easier.

I think Strop(I'm trying to remember exactly who it was, pretty sure it was him) once pointed out that if someone posts the same word 25 times, or so that it would be pretty obvious that they are spamming, making the true spammers easier to spot, or something like that anyways. To be honest I don't really care either way at this point because I rarely actually comment on games themselves do to lack of motivation to do so nowadays anyways, but I do know that all of the people saying that a game is bad without any reason why really don't help the developer of the game make it better, which is a bit frustrating to see in itself, but can not be helped( or can it?). I think I have gotten a little off topic here, but overall this has been suggested over-and-over again, and argued about each time, so I don't really know what more there is to be said on the matter at this point.

So are you Holt, so are you... if you see spam, just smile and flag.

How long ago did he say that? That could have been me since I posted in one of these threads....maybe. I dunno; those that do make an effort to comment will post a variety of words and phrases that pertain to the game. Those that care naught will most likely post the same word, copied, in order to gain AP.

This is a better sign of spam than:

Will awareness of flagging be any different? Nah. Will people notice it more? Yes. Will it change how reviews can be seen? Yes; if anything, it will make reviews harder to spot, since the comment minimum is jacked up.
