Since this is coming up in the WERP I thought it might be funny for everyone to take and talk about. Not sure how serious this topic will get beyond "I'm X on the scale", so it's going in here. http://www.politicalcompass.org/ If it's your first time there read the front page, the actual test is linked in there side bar to the left just under Home.
Your political compass Economic Left/Right: -3.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.28
That's a terrible test and shouldn't be considered useful for determining a person's political leanings. The whole poll is liberally slanted, and it's very clearly talking about neo conservatism, not actual conservative monetary policies. It's ludicrous to even claim that this survey says anything about anyone's financial opinions since there's only two questions on the whole survey which even vaguely relate to economics.
I hate party generalisations. Despite what my compass shows, I don't consider myself left or right, and I'm annoyed it got me so far wrong.

It's interesting you should say this, because:
1) The test writers appear to be British, and so have noted the change in position over the past few decades. This leaves me wondering where the voting public were trending.
2) It could be counter-argued that your criticism of the test is in fact a good reflection of how the propositions forwarded relate to your values. Keeping in mind of course that I'm not sure what "central" actually denotes on this graph.

I still maintain its leftist leaning. I showed this to a workmate in the last hour who is decidedly hardline Tory on most issues and came out as vaguely leftist. The majority of the questions on here are ones which are hard not to agree/disagree with the liberal standpoint.
As for the economics, it really is flawed. Real conservative economic policy (with a small c) pertains to protectionism. The right quadrant of economic policy of the compass is really classically liberal, a world away from their proper conservative counterparts.

I suppose, but it was more of a general observation. I suggest that the true result of the test is shifting everyone a few squares to the right.
You should not trust this statement, isn't too accurate, if even accurate at all.
You should not trust the statement this statement quotes, which is quoting another statement made by the poster of this post that should also not be trusted and you should not trust this statement being made right now.
