Well I guess the title says it all, I was just wondering who ya'll thought were the most active 'forumers' in this part of the AG forum. Opinions, that what this Forum is going to be, pure opinions, and yes you can say 'Me'.

I'm being told that a GameFly subscription will be my 'Christmas present'.

I'm one of those people who play a game once, and never look at it again. So it's a good decision.

Same! Im getting a wii but its not my choice, i would prefer a Kinect

The Kinect and Move both lack strong titles. To my dismay, the retailers are bundling them with the consoles. More money I don't feel like spending.

Title picked because right now I'm tossing up between:

1) PS3
2) Xbox360
3) not bothering buying any console.

The only reason I would by a PS3 is GT5. The only reason I would buy an Xbox360 is Forza Motorsport 3 (and 4 when it comes out). The only reason I would bother getting either is Guitar Hero. Yes, I'm extremely picky about the games I play and as you may by now have guessed if it's not a hardcore driving simulator I get bored with it pretty quickly.

Kinect etc. for me is not a major drawcard. I already do most of what I'd want to do with my body and I don't need sensors that crudely mimic my motions to dance or fight when my own motions are already the real thing, unless the technology got good enough to allow me to do some real practice (like the motion capture they use in 3D films and computer generated characters and such.) And Guitar Hero may cease to be a drawcard once I get better at the guitar. And I've tried using the Wii weightboard, it's such a counterintuitive contraption that there's a challenge in even adapting to play the games... that said the Raving Rabids make that purchase entirely worth it.

Judging by the above I might as well not bother, huh? What I'd really like now is a sparring partner but the only people game for that are these superheavyweights who top me by half a foot and whose jabs feel heavier than my straights...

wut?

So you're only a sport/car game person? Gran Turismo is a great game series. I have...3? On the PS1. I love how it almost has an "RPG" feel to it, where you can build your profile as you game. For instance, you get licenses, and the higher licenses, the tougher courses you can drive on, plus the higher tournaments yielding more money. That gives way to better cars and....EEEEEEEE *goes to Walmart to buy GT5*

Agreed visualizing better realities is harder when all I see is expensive bundles with hardware I don't like slapped on. Drags me back into depressing reality too much. Maybe I should just stop reading best buy catalogues.

You say you prefer but you never specify why you prefer it. What is it that interests you so about the hardware?

Kinect seems like a rip-off to me. The only interesting thing I can think of is using it on my computer with open source code they the hardware team just released for voice recognition shortcuts for my computers.

GT1 and GT2 are PS1. GT3 and GT4 are PS2.

Like Strop I'm also confronted with the issue of choice. I'm leaning towards PS3 at the moment. Hopefully, by the time I get an Xbox 360 it isn't outdated.

I would also avoid the Kinect and Move. I need to see better games for them.

Anthropomorphizing your console are you? I've always viewed my consoles and computers as tools which enable me access to otherwise hard to obtain means of information and leisure. Information is empowering.

Yeah the only thing I could see the kinect being useful for, exercise wise, would be if there was a program that tracked your progress and other statistics, which would serve as a motivator and a good way to keep track of your progress. Especially if it could incorporate weightlifting routines, how much you lifted and rep'd and what muscle or muscle groups were worked.

For guitar I would say go for Rockband 3 (if you have the cash) with the Pro mode and real guitar controller it seems like a semi-decent way to practice real guitar (or a fun way to track your progress). And a source of spot on tabulature for the music.

I'm leaning towards the PS3 I myself, mostly because I get more for my money than with the Xbox360 and I've waited months for a Blu-ray player, with the PS3 I get one installed.

I also look closely at the games, I don't play FPSs (which means online gaming) much so I'm not getting the Xbox360. I almost only play longer adventure games, football (soccer) and racing sims.
I think the PS3 would fit me better. And the matter of Kinect and Move...yeah, I would too keep out. Also, who made the design for the Move controller? Aaand I would recommend GT over Forza.

I'm getting a PS3...I have a wii. There aren't enough good titles for the wii in my opinion. Also, I think the technology in the Playstation Move just makes more sense.

I'd like to talk about something dealing with gaming. Professional gamers. People that play video games competitively for a living, like some Halo players. Do they even have lives outside of it? I think the average pro gamer plays for about 14 to 15 hours a day, which is a large amount, and it's almost like they do nothing else.

From what you've said they must not have outside lives.

I've seen some gaming shows though and they have lives outside of gaming. They must have jobs. I mean you couldn't just rely on playing games to pay the bills.

I know for one I couldn't play games that long. The longest that I've went playing a game is about 8 hours. Now I don't play video games that much. Evey once in a while if I think the games good.
