This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.
A broken heart leads
through many a dreadful road.
Overrun by sorrow and evil deeds,
Wavering in the small chance of a sight,
Just to catch a glimpse of the only light.
Where my broken heart leads,
will destroy all sacred promises and creeds.
Once there was a cherry tree,
Who grew cherries as good as could be.
Beside this our lovely cherry tree
Grew an upset pumpkin patch
"Do tell, brother pumpkin"
The cherry did ask,
"Why art thou angry, and full of wrath?"
The pumpkin grumbled a little, and came out with this
"Come down to my low level, thou Proud Cherry Tree,
And you shall see the demise of poor lowly me."
Heeding these words from the pumpkin, our Tree bent low to the ground and listened-
*Squish* "Tonight" *squash*" Tonight tonight "*squashy*
"Brother pumpkin, what makes such noise,
and squashes your friends, as a child with toys?"
The Pumpkin looked up with a face full of grief
"Dear Cherry Tree, 'tis the band made of Billy Corgan
They have given themselves a name out rumpkins,
For they art the "Smashing Pumpkins."
Thus ends the ballad of The Cherry Tree, Billy Corgan, and the Pumpkin.
Calling in sick
from this life that mines my soul with a horrible pick
ripping through my heart to hear its slowing beat
my body begins to chill from my sore head to weary feet
calling in sick to go to my grave
those at work and home will never have to worry if I'll ever
call in sick to mis-behave.
