This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.

Here's the first line:

A mountain pokes out awkward in the mist

There is a land,
Inside our heads,
Across the sea,
Where insanity spreads.

Once within,
There is no escape,
Gripped by death,
Your mind lost shape.

Given the time,
You'd feel alone,
Yet there is someone there,
Someone made of stone.

Next line: Into the mists of time,

Into the mist of time,
lost mysterys soon revealed.
the buildings stand alone,
the people speak there native tounge.

No white man walked these lands,
the mist rises.
It wasnt a dream,
out of the mist of time

The girl screamed

The girl screamed
The sounds of time,
Life passing us by
Things ever changing

A baby's cry
New life begins,
A world of nothing
Pens him in.

A child's whine
Shattering peace,
Seeking not
but attention.

A young man's song
Courtship starts,
The cycle
Starting ever again.

I would have done more than that, but I think it's long enough as it is.

How long has it been?

The girl screamed
Hulking shadows surrounded her
Tears now; pouring from her eyes

Footsteps echo, another shadow

Shots fire, A man steps forward
A last minute rescue?
No, another assailant.

A luminous night

Sorry about the ninja there, Kyouzou. I find it strange mine deals with life, while yours does with death. Coincidence?

A luminous night.
Stars out,
Moon ablaze,
Brightness coming from you.

Lamps on.
Nature's beauty gone.
Shapes without dimension
All cast in sickening light.

Not the best, but it does well to show how I prefer my nights without artificial illumination.

Day's glory has come

Day's glory has come
A blazing sun peeks over
The horizons orange rim

Soft rays of light
warm the cold earth
Drops of dew evaporate
to reappear another day

This one's so-so...

A growing life.

A growing life
Cut short before its prime
Falling into sleep
Eternal and deep
Death the only embrace

hmm turned darker than what I usually write.
A singing bird

A singing bird
Serenades those who pass by
But they walk on
The Bird sings low and high
No one understands

With all his speed he flies
Into a window
And oh so quickly he dies
A dead song

They pity him for not seeing
the clear glass
No one knows that he was fleeing
A life unknown

I love the smell of asphalt in the rain
The sharps sting in your nose
with the pitter patter of the rain
with the wind in you hair
you have everything to gain

you breathe it in
you let everything go
I love the smell of asphalt in the rain

weird

I fell in love because of her vouchsafe smile.
I didn't want to admit it,
But I was just in denial.

I dunno from there... lol i tried?

Left me with questions
and a longing to learn
what was that song
that my heart heard

answers which may ne'er be gleaned
for whom was she singing
what did the melody mean
my heart left pounding
and my mind awash with dreams

next line
Down the lonesome trail

Down the lonesome trail
They walk
An eternal journey, an infinite quest
But limited food
To survive,
Some will have to be eaten

I turn my camera on
To see
A beaming line of
Memory.
The triumphs I did not
Delete
Are those that make this life
Complete.
The failures that I can't
Recall
Might well have not been there
At all.

Not gonna let this die... Also "black" is easy to rhyme, so thanks Parsat.

Our houses will be painted black
A hidden shack
From all of those who would attack
To steal what they lack

We will stay inside all day
Only at night will we play
So that no one will betray
These houses where we pray

I lie down for a long time

I lie down for a long time,
For several minutes,
For several hours,
Wait for the bells' chime.

I lie down to sleep,
To lay awake,
To die in pain,
For my life to weep.

I lie down to dream,
Of golden wheat fields,
Of pharmaceuticals,
To cry a stream.

I pray not to die,
For this is my last,
The end has come,
An eternal lie.

I lie down to sleep,
To sleep forever,
To dream forever,
What I have sown I shall reap.

And now I die.
