This is a bit of a forum game, but at the same time it has the capacity to result in a bit of poetry, so it goes here. I'm going to supply a line of poetry, and the following poster is to create a poem using the line I gave as their first. Along with their poem, they supply a line for the next person to write poetry on. No restrictions on the type of line or poetry; just keep the line open ended.

Here's the first line:

A mountain pokes out awkward in the mist

You forgot the next line. You should probably put one in before someone beats you.

Ok, I guess you remembered.

Lifelike statues haunt me,
their grotesque features echo in my vision,
a shadow threatening to overcome.

Resting above my eyelids,
pushing them closed,
They force me into this nighmare.
I cannot escape.

Scratching red scars into my skull,
My thoughts are trapping me inside this cage,
this army of statues.
And I cannot fight.

Don't walk away

Don't walk away.
There is no point,
For I will follow
You until my feet are bleeding.

Don't try to run.
Your scent of treason
Is too strong for me to lose.
Besides, the chase will anger me.

Don't think you can hide.
My eyes are sharper than knives
And will slice through any veil,
No concealment will give respite.

Stay where you are.
Let me have my revenge
And pay you in full now,
Because my intrest rates are rather high.

Waking in a world long gone

Waking in a world long gone
Despair, you can't avoid
No light shone
There only was a void.

Now everything is lost,
The people that you loved,
A thick layer of dust
Covers everything you once touched.

A life filled with nothing
Buildings are just empty shells
What were you doing?
When it all came to shreds.

You can't do anything
You've already made your mistake
You were always sleeping
When we needed your help.

Another day comes to an end,
and i couldn't be sadder.

Something was said,
and it was heard.

She was angry,
and I was confused.

but now,
i know my mistake.
And hope i can ammend.

Maybe it was not meant to be
all these things going against me
while i try to finish

but these problems are too perplexing
and constantly interrupted by texting
this work never seems to diminish

I guess its time I just give up
I feel as tired as a pup
Maybe tomorrow I'll finish

Feeling invisible,
i watch her from a distance.
She seems to be fine,
but then why do i feel so bad?
Maybe she doesn't know me anymore.

As I watch the sunset

As I watch the sunset,
As the light fades from the earth,
So do I.

I become transparent,
In thought and in body,
And I observe everything.

I can see, many miles away,
A child playing on the beach.

I can see, across an ocean,
A worker typing in his office.

I am all knowing.
But I do nothing.
I do not know what it is like
To feel the burn of muscles
After running a mile.
All I know
Is what I watch.
What I see.

The cool night air

As I watch the sunset
I see these colors changing
from darkish red and soon to black
and then it all is over

the memories of this live on
but like the sunset
they will too fade away
and forever be gone.

What is today but yesterdays tomorrow?

What is today but yesterday's tomorrow?
What was once today looked upon its tomorrow
With the lens of the unknown,
but now I know what has occurred,
and it is a mystery no longer.

the cool night air
hits me
as I walk out
the door
I make my escape

I run from that
place where
so much pain I
suffered
and tears I had wept

so now into
these woods
connect with my in-
ner self
I'm now one with nature.

That felt weird splitting inner in half, but it helps make the meter more constant.

Come on people, we need to get this thread rolling again. This is probably the longest amount of time we've gone without a poem. The new first line is as stated above. (I feel like I'm bumping Battle of the Bands up all over again.)

IT WAS ONLY A DAY!

Running downhill at breakneck speed
As I go I see many a reed.
Now nearing the speed of light
The world around me is such a sight!

Today I have mounds of homework,
and all I'm doing is writing this.
I really need to get offline now,
Or a good grade I'll sorely miss.

Soon I'll get it done,
Soon is in about ten hours.
I'll never be able to run
from the amount of homework I have.
