Rate the above user's fame likely wouldn't die with it, that would be the how much respect do you have for the above user. I think that's what you meant though.
I personally like the idea, but I don't know if that really means anything.
If that gets implemented as I hope it will, then we need to work with IP stuff aswell. max 1 rep point per post per IP... Otherwise... alt accounts will do to increase your own rep.
I strongly dislike this idea, mostly because I've seen how ridiculously rep has been used on other forums.
All it is, is a popularity contest. People will give bad rep for the most ludicrous things, and good rep just for being friends or something. If this ever does get implemented I sincerely hope it comes with the option to turn it off as well.
It has the potential to be interesting, but I think it would end up being a largely irrelevant feature.
That is a strong argument Zophia. But it also increases "trying". If people want to become popular, they will put more effort in pages, though some will make fake/useless/duplicate walktrhoughs etc.

Also, If a friend gives you rep, for being a friend, it IS an indication about how many friends one would have, which still tells you something about the user.
And what about the need for atleast 5 + votes to gain 1 rep point, and atleast 3- votes for a -1 rep point?
. . . they'll turn into boring, inoffensive douches. AG will die if everyone's in an innocuous, douchey popularity contest all the time.
It's a good idea in concept, but it'll become too influential on people - we already have too many idiots here only for the AP, the rep'll just be another thing to idolize and hoard.

Thing is, perfectly well written posts can easily earn you a bunch of negative rep if you're saying something that will be... Unpopular.
Rep in the WEPR section would be horrible.
Honestly, I just don't think it's a necessary addition. There can be argued for and against it for sure, but my personal opinion is that it's a mostly useless feature.

I won't deny that, along with that people can place a really good thing, nearly perfectly, about something where there already is a thread about. I know how it goes, so I'm thinking of a way of getting around.

That is fully true, people get confronted with their counter opinions there. It sometimes means offense, despite other motives. If it should be accepted, it shouldn't appear everywhere, but then it leaves us to the point, where will it work properly?
You got me there. I would love to know how people think of me in general, but I see now it won't work.
You're just asking for more "newbs" to be ignored. The "masses" are always the stupid group that follow the leader. Now go play "How much do you respect the above user."
The idea of a 'respect meter' is OK on forums where everyone shares the same passions - Armor Games, however. has a diverse community. In other words, everyone has their own opinions. Two opposing parties could just decide to vote down the other simply because they have opposing opinions on one matter and due to a valid reason. That is, if you could vote a persons respect down - What if they made a string of brilliant topics that were well thought out and then went on to post obscene/racist/sexist/whatever material that sickened everybody?
