I had a soft drink in a can and i was running with it so it got fizzy. Then i tapped the top of it a bunch of times to settle it down but it still spewed. I don't think tapping a can really works. Does anyone else think it does or doesn't?
I've tried this, but it never seems to work for me... Well it worked one time. Just try making an experiment, shake a can and tap it, then hold in in front of your face (JK lol) and open it.
I honestly think it would just make it fizzier because tapping in the sense is just shaking it but I have never tried.
Well it all even come up to; what sort of can/drink, who is taping it and how fizzy it is before you start tapping.
Then one of these two will occur; 1: It will get more fizzy and, yeah, ya'll know whats gonna happen. 2: It will help, and you can sit back and relax drinking your soft drink.

Quite the contrary.
There's actually a science behind why tapping the top of a soda can works.
When you shake a soda, you create bubbles that stick to the side of the can. When you open the soda, all the air bubbles stuck to the side of the can wants to rush upwards, pushing the soda, now fizz, out.
When you tap the top of the soda can, you loosen up a lot of the bubbles stuck to the side of the can so they float to the top. So really, it works better if you tap the side of the can, because you knock even more of the bubbles to the top of the can. This way, when you open the soda, all the air bubbles don't have to push through as much soda to escape.
At least this is what I heard. I've opened some pretty shaken sodas without the mess before.

Well, that makes sense too me. I will try if it works better tapping the side of a can.
I'd tap that, but really what I think works better is slightly opening the top so it losses the pressure then opening it all the way. You can also use this to drink it slowly (you can get a bit through the crack)and it won't spill out.
but on this thought i would think that the pressure would be even greater and create more force... unless your talking about a bottle that you can reseal quickly then we have a different situation because you can reseal quickly

Am I the only one who giggled at this?
But Yeah, it really works. We tried it a bunch. Like took cans, and shook them as fast as we could for 30 seconds. then we tapped the cans, and didn't get fizz. It works with all diffrent sizes of sodas to.
Nonononononono. It works. You might just be doing it wrong. You have to tap the mouth at the top of the can. I shook a can as much as I could and did it. It worked.
