I mean of course there are singing teachers giving lessons and all but does that really work?
Is it really possible to learn how to sing or are the classes ripoffs. Singing is usually described as something that comes naturally, right? But things that come naturally aren't learnable, or are they? You can't learn how to breath, but is breathing in the same category as singing? I was just wondering if it (singing lessons) is actually worth the money and stuff (sorry about the vague adjectives I like them). Anyways please state your opinion, for the following question, which I keep repeating, because I like repeating questions, and commas, I like commas, anyways, I'm getting off subject here, opinions on the following question, which I am now going to repeat, right now, now. Is it really possible to learn how to sing?

I sing in the shower too. I used to think my voice sounds awesome, but others have a different opinion T.T

Haha poor firetail, anyways singing in the shower is for people that are awesome, if you sing in the shower you are awesome simple.
Anyways Everybody has different opinions on whether or not singing is learnable, some say yes others say no, but that you can learn singing techniques that will make you a better singer, but which is right?

Anyone can hum :3
But the quality of the humming varies~

It's a talent. You can practice all you want, but if you don't have the necessary control and decent vocal cords, you will never grow to be more than an average singer. It's really sad, but it involves something that requires natural talent.
The necessary control is the part that can be taught. The decent vocal cords are the stuff you need to be born with. If you have a voice suited for singing, you can get good use out of lessons - if you don't, well, lessons won't change your body.

Both. They won't help if your voice isn't good enough. If your voice is good enough, they can make you able to do so much more with it.

Or crush your self confidence if you get a bad teacher. Leader of our school choir back in 5th grade or earlier used to tell me I was always half a key off from what I should be. Result from that (and a few other self confidence breakers)? Took me two years in a new school to start singing at an audible volume again. I'm probably still a bit off the notes, but at least I can sing.

As a few people before me have said, practice is important. You can learn how to sing without lessons, but it's unlikely you will figure it out alone.

Yes, your voice does play a role, but you can improve control over your voice so it doesn't crack so much and make it much smoother with practice. Your lungs, your mouth, everything should be treated as an instrument.
