I'm gonna start of by saying that Kinect looks amazing and I can't wait till they make that for shooter games.
Another thing that will be nice is the 250gb memory, I mean thats like almost a laptop.
Yet another thing thats cool about it is its new look (smaller, cooler, and as microsoft put it "Sexier"
NOTE: All you hold outs waiting for the Xbox 720 or what ever theyre gonna call it there not gonna release it for years and years now (at least about 10) because as long as the 360 (including the 360 slim) still creats revenue then they won't even think about releasing it and kinect will open soooo many doors its gonna generate revenue for quite a long while.
Ahh Sony fanboys I was wonder when you would show up. It's a matter a prefrence they are equal in console terms and have equally good librarys.
I said in my last post it was down to preference but I'd always go for the superior console instead of a console because of the manufacturer or whatever else is keeping the gaming audience more interested in the 360 over the Slim.
As far as I know, the hardware in the PS3 is simply more futuristic, as it were, than whatever is inside the 360. That's why you see better graphics and higher frame rates when playing on a PS3 as opposed to a 360. The upgrades, like reliable cooling and built in wi-fi have been incorporated with the PS3 since first day of launch, and Microsoft has lagged behind for a long time, and still does not have any technology besides the connection speeds that supersedes the stuff that the PS3 is and has been kitted out with for the last 5 or 6 years.
Once again, the library is down to your personal tastes, but I feel that when Sony release their exclusives they bear a lot more originality or go that extra step further to make the game worth buying. I'd also say that generally the PS3 exclusives get higher marks from professional reviewers which is always a good sign of quality, regardless of ones preference.
Remember, PS3 also uses the touch sensor. I don't know if people have these problems very often.
No, I've used my friends' Playstations and you do have to apply at least some pressure. They obviously had the idea that it could be a problem during the design.
It does have better online play and a more active community.
You're certainly paying for a powerful service when you buy Xbox Live, but once again ping times aren't bad enough to make it worth paying a subscription over a free service. In my experience the ping times on the PS3 have been very consistent.
I'd say it's hard to tell whether or not the community is more active. The Xbox multiplayer community is certainly large, there's about a five millions difference in unit sales between the two consoles (from the last figures I saw). But you'd have to try a Hell of a lot of games to declare, with sufficient evidence, which has the most active community. The fee for Xbox multiplayer turned a lot of people away.
You should NEVER move your xbox while it has a disk in it. In fact, anything where you set the disk into the tray should never move while a disk is in it.
Seconded. You're looking at all types of consequences for messing about with a device (especially something as intricate as a games console) while there's still power running through it.

Very true.^
However, with the Xbox you have the ability to "Install" games to your hard drive. This means that anything the game needs to play is already there, all you need is the game itself for start-up (if not, people could play as many games as they have space to save without actually owning them). It makes it so the system runs cooler, faster, and the disc doesn't spin; Meaning that moving the system is a little safer. With the new 250 GB hard drive included, that's a lot of games you can install (about 5-10 minutes per game, with an average of 6 GB per game)
I actually was talking to the rep at Game Stop the other day about the new Slim and he's heard nothing but complaints about it thus far. Now I know that doesn't mean that it is a terrible system, but if there are already complaints coming in it does make me cautious about shelling out a large chunk of change for a console.
XBox seems to go both ways. Many people have experienced numerous issues with their consoles, and some have had no issues at all. I am just very cautious about what I spend my money on and if there is a good chance something may malfunction with my purchase I tend to find something else to buy.

I understand your caution, I felt the same way before I sold my PS3 for an Elite. I had virtually no problems with it at all though and I was glad I bought it. I think the majority of problems that occur with Xbox are people mistreating them, thinking they can actually stand it up and play a game without destroying it, keeping it in a space where it can't vent correctly, things like that. With the Slim the only new complaint I can think of is a problem with the Wi-Fi, but it's likely most of the time that's a problem beyond the Xbox
As long as you know what you're doing with it, Xbox is a great system. However, if it's PS3 you prefer buy that, because they're both great gaming consoles
Well the system is "slimmer" but it still is pretty tall/high when it stands, i think it is actuly taller then the older xbox 360. Still great console with the Wi-fi and all!
Well, i remember the huge hype about Xbox360 Slim.
NO MORE RROD!
thousands went and bought this machine, if nothing more than just a backup.
First day of playing it, those thousands and thousands of people wanted their money back, why? Instead of a RROD, the console decides to go in to a deep sleep until the light goes off.
Microsoft Failed, not only did they just earn all that money from the Slim, te popularity level of Microsoft & especially the Xbox Slim, plummeted to a new low.
Good Job! (y)
As for the Xbox, i love games, i love my Xbox, sad as it is tho. I had not played the Xbox for a good two weeks.
I turned it on, i started playing 1 level on 'Airport' on Modern Warfare 2, after 2 minutes of playtime exactly, i turned the console off, and packed it away i my wardrobe. Why? I don't know, i think i'm ill, but all i can say is. R.I.P Xbox 360, i shall miss you until November and Black Ops is released.

It actually is smaller, I saw a guy compare them and it was smaller (not by a lot, but still smaller) as if it matters. Wi-Fi is a great thing to have, and it has a lot more USB ports -----
@Uproar: I don't remember anyone saying no more Red Ring Of Death (RROD), in fact Microsoft never promised that as they even have a small support section for problems like that specifically with the Slim. Most of the time though it's easy to fix the rings, whether it means changing the power outlet, loosing/tightening the back faceplate, or just letting the console cool down.
And your problem with MW2 is that it's MW2 lol, I understand if you're not enjoying playing it much anymore, but it shouldn't be blamed on the console. Buy some new games, play with friends, get into the community more. Xbox, as I said, is a great system once you know what you're doing

The 360 has a history of being technically unstable and quite regularly malfunctioning from basic over-heating issues or not having a cable plugged in right up to permanent hardware failure, and I'd say that the Slim hasn't shown much improvement. You could assume, looking at the specs, that the thing won't kill itself whilst basking in it's own heat - but still people are claiming it still breaks down easily. I'd consider getting one of the alternatives, but of course, there's a budget too and you must ask yourself is saving the money (or not having the console at all) worth the risk of it failing?

You're not meant to stand it up. And anyway, this thing isn't supposed to be a portable platform, and I doubt mobility was what they were thinking about. All it's got to do is sit next to the TV.
Instead of a RROD, the console decides to go in to a deep sleep until the light goes off.
As far as I know, that's a technical measure. When the Xbox over heats it decides it'll go into a low/no-power state and when for the heat to escape out of the ventilation. If that fails parts of the CPU will start to melt. If that's the case it raises questions about the new cooling and just how powerful it is.
Play them on the PC. All of the xBox only titles are on PC as well.
Yes but even budget gaming PCs capable of playing the latest titles are nearly a grand, minimum. Consoles are the cheaper alternative, a lot of people/their guardians don't really want to blow that kind of cash on something to play video games on.
A guy that works for a VG store told me microsoft took out the red LEDs, so if you get the red ring, you wont know it :/ i guess theyre so confident about the low power mode when its abuout to overheat they dont think it'll happen again
