I would go look at the first life form millions years ago

Exactly KFK. I bet you could make friends with whoever you give such tech too. Or you could annihilate everyone with it. Better to not to do so. Yes, I know introducing things from the future, in the past, has great unforeseen consequences.

And yes, time travel done on a wide scale will **** things up. Realistically, if it were possible, time travel would be an extremely guarded secret.

i dont find it realistic to travel back in time ,maybe slow it though. but anyway....

it could be useful if humanitiy really f***s itself over and so then they could send some people to alter history so it would never happen....

Well, if one were to alter the present in a significant way, there would probably be no chance to reverse the action. Even if you erase atrocities or tragedies from existence, the absence of those could alter history in a worse way.

Think of going back in time and rescue the electric car.
And stop the production of the oil car.
If you would do that, sure the future would not be as polluted as it is now. But what would happen then? Without fault you can't make it better.

I think it would benefit the human kind, that if an time travel machine was invented, I/you would go back in the future and destroy the machine. But don't ask me how you get back home.

*I hope that makes sense*

define 'the machine' :P. that can be taken many, many different ways XD.

What came to your mind when you read "the machine"?

And what I mean with the machine is of course the time travel machine.

well 'the machine', depending on knowledge and background, can be interpreted as a government....

but anyway why would u destroy it??? you could go to the future and learn all kinds of miracles, like cures to diseases, and make them happen sooner! the past or present cant be changed by that!

It can, but that would not happen often or ever I think.
And as stated in the thread name. You travel back in time......

Time is a complicated mess. The slightest thing you do in the past can alter the future and cause paradoxes.

Therefore, time travel isn't too great of an idea.

I believe this thread is purely fictional, time travel is anyway impossible so let your fantasy play^^
I think I would travel back to early roman time and make a tour, starting from Egypt, go through Greece, Rome, and pass Helvetia and Gallia, set for Ireland and finish in Icelands and visit all these old cultures.

How can you know that?
It's been proved by some that time travel is possible.
And there is a man that has even built something that you can call an time travel machine. It sends small particles back about 20sec in time.

As night said it wouldnt be the greatest idea, it would create an endless amount of paradox's.

I don't want to start a discussion on that here, I recommend you to go to the Time Travel thread. It's worth your time.

I would go to the roman empire with a stockpile of modern weapons and take over.

Hmm..

I'd like to see how preventing Caesar's assassination would alter the course of time.

Aside from that, I'd go on a tour. Assuming I know how to speak Latin. Ancient Greek would help too.
