I hope this is not a idea that has already been suggested.

What about, instead of the 7 words rule, the readers consider if a post is spam?
For example, if a post is flagged, say, 15 times (by dffrent users), then the post is automatically deleted.
Or, you can insert a special button for this.
This will lessen the workload of the modarators, and let them have more time working on problems that a mashine cannot fix.

It's a good idea, but flagging is something built into forums and other internet social mediums. There may not be a way to set it up with an 'if/then', though I imagine the moderators would appreciate it working that way.

The other problem is that what a user may see as offensive/spam/inappropriate/etc may not actually be something the moderators end up deleting. If fifteen people disagree with a post, but there is technically nothing wrong with it, it stays. On the same token, if fifteen people flag it, there is probably something severely wrong with it.

I like the idea, though.

Well is it going to make that much of a difference? By the time 15 users have actually flagged something, spammers will have made hundreds of thousands of posts by then.

I like the idea though, this would help.

It wouldn't work particularly well - especially in places like WEPR where a lot of people hold controversial opinions which some people might find offensive and flag as spam.

I think that he means on game comments. Not forum posts.

Same explanation applies for that too, people would delet it because they didn't like the comment...

Especially the WEPR. There is a lot of debating and the users may disagree with another user.

And no I don't really like this idea. It would just be more simpler report to the mods. So they can decide of the post or comment is spam or not. It shouldn't be a user's decision.

Someone could also make multiple accounts to flag one comment of someone they hate.

Yes and no from meh.

Yes because it could possibly kill off spammers, but at a veryyy slowly rate.

No because people can just go around clicking 'flag' on everyone's posts, like Agent and FireTail mentioned.

Overall, I would say no.

if they really make that many accounts just to do that then they have no life. If following that 15 flag rule in the OP, then they would need 15 emial addresses for all those. If they didnt already have that many ( i know i dont) then they would have to make them and yeah... they would fail at life

I am pretty sure that the people who post in the WEPR section are mature enough not to do that and accept other people's views. Just because you are debating with someone doesn't mean that you do not recognize that people are going to have other views.

Now who here actually flags an intelligent post just because he does not agree with the others opinion?

Some people do, although i would say the trolls are most likely to do that.
As far as actually flagging comments to delete them as spam, that's not a great idea. People have stated pretty much every reason for it already: people flagging comments of people they don't like, etc. I would say that people may flag comments because they think it's spam, but it isn't really.

Yes, but I didn't say that everybody would flag each other. Many regulars there can handle it. But some other people aren't really mature and then they just flag.

Again, some people do.

Or the not kind enough to handle it.

This is why you report to a mod and admin and let them decide if it's spam or not. We users don't make decisions for the site's forums. Mods and admin decide to lock, delete or ban.

I like the idea but it's hard to make this come true, someone can give his opinion that a couple of others truly disagree with and they can flag him for that

also at first, i was so stupid to think that if you press that, it was good hehe... but that's because i knew something like that from other sites, that you could do a thumb up/down thing:P

but i think it has to be like this, we flag, the mods look and decide whether or not it's spam

Maybe if the user writing the comment doesn't use 7 words it doesn't post the message and gives him a notification to use 7 words in his/her post.
