With all the tell tale signs occurring around the globe. The economic collapses of smaller countries vs the economic decline of world leading countries. Should there be a legitimate fear for a world wide revolution to occur during our life time? How do you feel this may effect you as an individual in your country.
As history shows, periods of economic depression usually spark revolutionary reactions. People become sick of being poor. As poverty builds, so does the anger of the masses. Ultimately people revolt. And as is speculated by some, the US for one is overdue for a revolution.
As long as the those in power control the media. There can be no revolution. People are too easily quelled by propaganda. It leads to inaction and ignorance. Most mainstream news leaves out the majority of the story. Keeping the most offensive and inciting articles away and keeping people placid.

To be honest, I'd rather have people be placid, inactive and ignorant than fiery and revolutionary. If the public is going to take a story out of context, then it's better that they never heard it at all.
So you'd rather people continue to be exploited and ignorant of the fact they are?
People deserve to know what is going on. The media cuts things out to keep people supporting what they want supported, and hating what they want hated.

Igonorance is the greatest of all crimes for all crimes stem form ignorance in one for or the other. I would rather be informed than a docile idiot.
and they wonder why people commit so many crimes....
maybe if people knew more about whats going on their wouldn't be so many crimes happening...

It all depends on how the people would react to the information. Right now, we live in a society where the smallest, inconsequential detail will be taken out of context and used to incite protest and revolution. Spreading these should not be a priority of the media.
Thats why main stream media is a lie. People dserve to know about their countries secrets, but yet they hardly know anything. sad.
But how do you balance the distribution of 'countries secrets'? If citizens were freely able to dig through a country's private records, what's stopping them from exploiting a country's weaknesses?

I don't believe that. I believe we live in a society of political inaction. Most people see injustice and say 'ooh well that's bad' then sit back down again. Some will protest, none would revolt.
Why are you so firm in your belief that revolution is the only solution to this problem? A revolution will cause needless instability, unrest and death. No problems will be solved, only new ones created.
The media needs to focus on what actually matters and not trivial cannon fodder. Shift the focus and make it more approachable to everyday people.

Its not a solution... but have you ever tried to talk to the people who run the country. You cant. You might think you can but really, little gets done and this is why a violent revolution feels like to only way to break down walls. And speaking of walls... how bout the wall that split germany down the middle. Dyou think a peacefull protest would have brought an end to that?
The media will focus on whatever makes good news, and they will also jump to any tune they are played by the powers that be. Sure! you can think Im being a lil unfair but its so very true.
Because the system is geared against change, trying to work within it would accomplish nothing if you wanted to 'liberate' people from their situation. Also, the way things are, thousands of people die from exploitation and starvation every day. I would gladly sacrfice myself to end it.
