actually, it's a major problem that will adversely the lives of a lot of marine life, as well as people. Accidents happen, but only due to improper safety precautions. Oil spills are not just acts of god. they can always be prevented.

If there is a structural error, there is always someone to blame. possibly something was overlooked, miscalculated, or faulty, but these things don't happen for no reason. this has happened a few times, and in each case it could have been prevented if people were less careless. Hopefully, now people are gonna take a ton of extra precautions so this won't happen again.
I'm not sure if the BP spill is the biggest spill in history. There was a spill in Kuwait that is said to be bigger. However, I can't find out how many gallons have leaked out till this day. I can only find amounts of oil leaked that was posted about 2 to 3 months ago.

Less careless? Or do you mean more careful? To say less careless is to suggest that they were careless in the first place. If you use the words more careful, then you sound like a douche because it's hard to criticize someone who was trying to be careful.
BP should take the blame as well as pay for all the damage done, but you should at least be realistic and understand that a mistake was made.
Someone could have been careless, but we can't say BP as a whole was careless.

There is a difference between oil spill and oil leak. Bp = oil leak. China = oil spill.
Well China has already cleaned up there oil spill. They didn't just sit around and wait to find out who's fault it was before doing anything. The people cleaned it. Granted some people got pretty sick in the process.
And in more current news. Another oil well off the coast of new orleans is leaking into the gulf of mexico. This spill isn't the biggest ever. The Persian Gulf oil spill is possibly larger, and the lakeview gusher spill was much larger than this. Deepwater Horizon is pretty bad, though.
The one in China is getting pretty dangerous too. Hopefully China gets the cleanup going faster than we did.

The original article I had read stated that china had already cleaned up the oil, and it went on praising them and there people for how effective they where in the clean up.
