I went to public school all through elementary school but from middle school on I have been homeschooled. I personally like homeschooling better but I want to know what you all think and why.
I like homeschooling because: 1. It leaves me with more free time to do what I want. 2. I can go however fast or slow I want to.
I did homeschooling myself one year, and I loved it. I completed an entire school year's worth of work in just under 3 months which I thought was fantastic. However public school is very important as a social education. You are introduced to many different beliefs, cultures, and ideas and learning how to deal with that and thrive in that type of environment is crucial to success.

I'd also say that. Public school is needed for some sort of social maturation. Though I never did homeschooling, and though my early school years weren't the happiest time I had, I'd still say that it would be a mistake to completely leave it out.
wow third person to post in this thread with this armatar lol.
anyway, i went to a public school my whole life and while it was a great way to grow up and learn social skills and etc... I think i would have been better off home schooled. as MRWalker82 commented on how he completed one year of school in 3 weeks, it would have been better for me, educationally, to be homeschooled.

This isn't necessarily true... I was homeschooled my entire life. Just because you're homeschooled doesn't mean you don't get exposed to culture. I have more experience and knowledge than any of my friends who were in public school. That's not to mention the academic advantage I had. It's all in the things you do outside of school that makes the difference. You can be sheltered and not experience anything, or be like my family and get our fingers in so many different programs I had no breathing room during high school.
That's very true snakebite, but that is a rare case. Also, getting out and experiencing things is not necessarily the same as being forced to learn to deal with differences, which public school forces you to do.
I think home-scholing is not for me. Even thought I oblige and do well when I am forced, when I am at home and both of my parents are at work, I simply can't work. I'm too lazy for homeschooling.

I think that's probably the most honest thing I've ever heard :P

I did home schooling for a year as well, also loved it.

For me it was a major factor in the development of a form of post traumatic stress disorder. Though I wouldn't have met my girlfriend if I hadn't gone back, so I did get something good out of it.
It's all what is being done weather it's home schooling or public schooling.
I think that really - a mix of both public schooling and homeschooling would be best for most kids. They need the social interaction that comes from public schooling as well as meeting people of other cultures and beliefs. I also think that public school is too slow in a lot of cases and work that could be completed in a matter of days at home is often stretched out into weeks or months at public school. Perhaps schools on the whole should be more 'compartmentalized' - you can enter your children at a school to study certain topics that you don't feel you can adequately teach them and are still free to teach them the topics you have a good grasp of at home.
Since I am looking to go to a Division 1 school for a tennis scholarship, I want to be homeschooled. But my parents dont have the time. I hate all the people at my public school. They are all so fake.

I didn't have a choice. I was forced to do a lot of my extracurricular activities. It's not as rare as you think. The sheltered homeschoolers are the rare ones. Most of my homeschooled friends we're active in the same things you guys are and then some. I personally was active in City Government and U.S. Army programs to better military family life.
i think just the people and friends you make in school are the most important part. i wouldnt have met my best friend if it werent for going to a public school. and social interaction itself is what is going to happen when you leave so its best to get used to it while you can
I think that you should go to a public school because if you are homeschooled, then you'll probably have 1 or 2 friends, but at a public school, you could have more than enough friends.
