I've noticed several people are a bit down about ArmorGames having a slow Forum. Slow as in not much fun and low activity.
Well, what about ForumContests?
~Contests~ The contests would include things from "Create your own ArmorGames Skin", "Create the Most Popular Forum Thread of 20__", and much more that I would rather discuss some other time.
~Rewards~ Every contest needs a reward, otherwise there would be no participants. The contest stated above, "Create your own ArmorGames Skin", has one of the most obvious prizes that could be involving having your CustomSkin published for everyone to use. Others could include Merits, Cool Armatars, or even "HonorableMentions" if you want to be Bland with it.
The idea seems like it would spark a bit of activity here and there, but would require thinking from the Contest Manager(s) to organize a successful Contest.
Support? Denied? Please Explain your Opinions Why.
Sounds like a great idea, but I think a lot of those things have already been done in the past. Definitely there have been seasonal armatar contests. I don't know what happened to them though.
We have/had several contests. Right now the most popular are the Haiku Contest and Poetry Contest. There are a few others, and the Art Skills Competition may resurface one day when they get a new judge.
These contests would have to be created by staff members if they were to implement new armatars and skins from them. Otherwise they wouldn't be "official", and lots of havoc would be created from all the dispute about how "official" it really all was.
At the moment, the current background of AG is fine the way it is, I don't want it to be changed.
The idea behind that contest would not be to change the skin to a new default for everybody, but rather have selections for alternate skins if you don't like this default skin.
I agree with you, I like this background, but having a selection of skins might be fun to have just in case for some reason you were to get tired of green, black, and white.
I think it would be a good idea, because these forums are getting boring.
The more contests we have, the more people we will need to run these contests. That's probably the biggest, if not the only, problem with having so many contests going on simultaneously.
Well, I believe some contests could do nicely around here. Not too many however. As for AG having other skins, we will have to see about that. I'm sure this will be present in the future. As for AG 2.0, I'm afraid we'll be sticking with this skin until the update.
In essence, I agree with you mostly.
As for your solutions actually working, we'll have to see about that.
The solution to the Armorgames forum slump is to be active in it. No, not just replying to threads, making threads to reply in. The activity of Armorgames is determined by how active we ourselves are. Don't wait till other people do this; do it yourself.
I'm in the process of making a story about corruption, diplomacy and about the M.O.D.s. Little teaser there. This is how I'm doing MY part in making AG more active. You have to think of something to make it better, because that's the only way a moving forum is going to happen.
I guess I'm the sucker that fell for this one? o_O
I have several suggestions but why listen to me since every thread I've started has crashed and burned just like so many other ones. Personally, I would really like to debate Midieval, Renaissance histories, especially the weapons, armor, wars, etc. More current affairs in the WERP would be nice too.
The Tavern seems to be swirling down the drain while trying to drown everyone over the age of 13.
I guess that's why I'm hanging out more in the art, music and writing forum? I've been seeing you hanging out there too, Frank, so what ideas or interests do you have?
My apologies to the OP. I sincerely thought I was the first one to respond to a blank page with only the thread title to go by. Now that I realize my mistake I would like to try to redeem myself.
I agree that the dullness of the current Courtyard section of the forums need creative sparks to liven things up but I'm not sold on the contest idea to accomplish this. I'm not shooting down FM's OP but instead would like for us to come together for some "head banging".
The current trend I see happening is those of us with motivation and enthusiasm have migrated to the Forge section of the forums to locate our friends with common interests. Personally, I have a lot to learn from friends like Frank,(aka Freakenstein), who's an older member and can help me not to repeat past mistakes, past threads, etc.
I suggest, and I may even begin, a thread where all of us can meet and chat about all of these ideas that interest us. I don't know anything about the Breakfastarians. Is this, though, such a group like the one I am describing? Is this a closed group or are new members still accepted?
