Okay, so here's the arpeg. What do you think?
Battlefront 1861

Battlefront: The military sector in which actual combat takes place.
The American Civil War began on April 12, 1861 when the Confederate assault on Fort Sumter brought tensions between the northern states of the USA and the southern states of the USA to a boil, finally kicking off the bloodiest conflict in United States history, and in only four years had claimed the lives of anywhere between 618,000 to 700,000 Americans. Now, it is your turn to enter the war. You must fight for the Confederates or the Union, and turn the tide of the War Between the States.

Name: First and last name, please. Middle name optional. Do not include rank.
Age: 14-60. Neither army was very picky about who they allowed to enlist. They needed everyone they could get.
Side: Confederate or Union.
Home State: Not required. Connected to "side".
Rank: Private, unless your class is Officer, in which case you start off as a Lieutenant.
Health: 50/50
Class: Look below to see the classes.
Skill: See "Classes"
Perk: You can have one perk. Check below, in Perks.
Weapon: See "Classes".
Clothing: Confederate Uniform or Union Uniform, according to your side, Haversack(kind of like a backpack, it's what you carry your stuff in).
Other Equipment: Bedroll, Canteen, Rations[1 week]. For the rest, see Classes.
Allies/Troops: See Classes.

Classes(all the classes are the same for either side).
Cavalryman: The horse-riding branch of the military. Used as reconnaissance, or to harrass the enemy slowly but surely, so that they will either slow down or stop. Starts out with a Trained Horse, a Pistol[2/2], and a Saber. Skill is "Horsemanship", the ability to train a horse for battle, and skillfully ride it.
Officer: The high-ranking commanders of the battlefield. Used as an in-combat commander, the Officer not only commands troops, but can take out enemies of their own. Starts out with a Saber, a Pistol[2/2], and 10 Troops. Skill is "Command", to control troops on the same side as you to do what you tell them to.
Infantryman: The on-foot backbone of the war. Used for nearly everything, from defense to offense to drawn-out battles. Starts out with a Musket[5/5], and a Bayonet. Skill is "Sharpshooter", the ability to reload your weapon faster and aim more accurately.
Artilleryman: The "big guns" of the war. The artillerymen must work as a seamless team, because it takes five or so people to operate a cannon, but when it works, it can take out nearly anything. Used for offense or defense. Starts out with a Cannon, a Snake(sharp, swordlike tool that they use to load the cannon, but can also be used as a makeshift weapon), Flint and Tinder, 5 allies, and a Knife. Skill is "Heavy Artillery", which is the ability to load and fire cannons and mortars accurately and more quickly than untrained people trying to operate them.
Other: You can create your own class, HOWEVER, it must be approved by me. Please attempt to make it historically accurate and do not make it overpowered.

Perks: A perk is a little something extra. You can gain perks throughout the game by doing amazing feats, but most of you are going to end up with only the perk you pick at the beginning, so choose wisely! Your perk(s) are what set you apart from other soldiers just like you.
Sharp: Players with the "Sharp" perk are more skilled with a sword, and can wield it much more efficiently than soldiers without the perk.
Resiliency: Players with the "Resiliency" perk are not only more resistant to disease, but if they do get it, it does less damage and goes away quicker. Plus, they can go longer without food, water, and sleep without feeling the effects.
Squeaky Clean: Players with the "Squeaky Clean" perk automatically take much better care of all their weapons, meaning they're less likely to malfunction(and blow up in your face).
Locked and Loaded: Players with the "Locked and Loaded" perk are better with small arms like pistols, meaning they're more accurate with a pistol and fire faster.
Other: As with classes, you can make your own perk, but also as with classes, it must be accurate, not overpowered, and must be approved by me.

Also: I know that in the Civil War, disease actually killed many more people than bullets. However, just to make this interesting, you can and must find some way to make sure that your character doesn't get sick(they will, just not with a fatal disease, as long as you take precautions. If you have Resiliency, chances are you won't even get a minor disease). So, read up, and find out how you can save your character's life with some common sense!

Moderators: This game will start out with one moderator, Piester22, who helped me create this RPG by supplying accurate historical information. He can play the game, but can also respond to other players' scenarios(of course, Pie, you should be fair or you won't be a mod for long) and will also be giving you a dossier before each battle. As the game goes on, I may or may not add more moderators.

Any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything, feel free to post!

Good luck on the Battlefront!

I resolved to just soldier through the pain of the bump, whatever it was. I would not show weakness in front of the Yankees. However, today I have noticed a second bump, smaller than the original but just as painful. Now, I am really getting worried, but I hide my pain and fear, determined to conceal any doubt from the Yankees as we march. I am uncertain of our destination, and I am uncertain of how much farther it is until we reach wherever the Yankees are going. By now, my feet are finally callused up, but ironically by this point my cheap leather boots have worn through from days of long marching with little to no rest. And it's not just showing on my boots, it's starting to take its toll on me and my so-called Yank companions. Despite all my hardships, I just keep putting one boot in front of the other. *end of page*

Today, we were ambushed by a group of rogue bandits! They demanded our supplies, all our food, water, everything. The Yankees denied...let us say, vehemently. We all knew that if our supplies were stolen, we would never stand a chance at reaching the Yankee HQ, or wherever we were heading at this point alive. Anyway, the Yanks shot down maybe five bandits in their first volley, then the bandits returned fire. I just stayed where I was, uncertain. I felt sorry for the Yanks...after all, they were keeping me alive, even if only for their own purposes. And it was not just Yanks or Confederates that hated bandits...it was both. Our mutual enemies were filthy, disgusting, lawless swine that was not fit to lick the boots of brave soldiers, whether they wore gray or blue. It was plausible that in the heat of battle I could snatch some supplies and escape, but that would mean abandoning the Yankees to their fate, and I did rather feel sympathy for them. *end of page*

I took the dishonorable(but logical) option and decided to get the living hell out of there. I got up and started to run away, my bound feet and hands making it difficult. On more than one occasion, I stumbled and fell, and was walked on several times before I managed to get back up again. However, there was something good in all this, as when I fell once I discovered a bayonet, half-buried in the dirt, that I could use as a weapon. I gripped in my hands and half-ran half-hobbled towards my horse, which I could see from my tent. I grinned, I saw that my horse still had my haversack attached to its saddle just like I had left it. I was about to jump onto my horse and escape when I saw that a bandit nearby had taken the initiative and grabbed my horse. Yelling, I ran up to him and stabbed him with the bayonet with all the strength I could muster. Turns out it was enough. He fell from the horse groaning, and I jumped on. However, as I was strapping myself into the saddle, I heard a gunshot behind me, and a burning pain. The bandit I had just stabbed had pulled out a pistol and shot me in the thigh. Shock and pain caused me to go limp, and feeling this, my horse panicked and started to drag me around. I was hanging from the horse by one foot as I was hauled through the dirt and rocks. Coughing, I started to heave myself up; literally by my bootstraps, back up onto my horse. However, I felt a shiver run down my spine and turned around to see the bandit aiming at me again with his pistol. This time I knew the shot would be fatal. *end of page*

Journal of Capt. James Brown of the Union Army
Battle of Bull Run
"CHAAAARRGEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed until my throat was scratchy and painful. My troops screamed in return, and charged at the enemy. The infantrymen left their cover, the cavalrymen urged forward their horses, and the artillery teams opened up. The cannons and mortars tore apart Union and Rebel alike with the indiscriminate heavy fire, but it turned out to be a good decision. The extreme charge would have left our men vulnerable to fire from the Rebs, and they would've been shot to pieces long before they reached the Rebel lines. The heavy artillery fire had managed to disrupt the Rebel defensive, and so our troops could reach the enemy, what with the crazy run they were doing. And so, most of the Union soldiers started stabbing at the Rebels with their bayonets. They easily killed almost all the artillery teams in their first major strike, then I ordered them to back off a little, which they did. From there on, our artillery shattered the Rebel infantrymen. Once that was done, the remainder of our infantry charged forward at the back of the other line, while Gen. McDowell's troops charged their line as well. However, the remainder of the Rebel artillery had gained the strength of desperation, and they continued firing. I felt a BOOM! in the ground near my feet, and stumbled to the ground, bleeding. *end of page*

"Wake up, sir!" called a voice. It was strangely distorted, like I was underwater.
"W-whaaat?" I moaned, moving my jaw with difficulty.
"Wake up sir," barked a voice, sharper this time. I felt my shoulder being shaken, but everything was disjointed, like I was in some kind of out of body experience.
"Ughh..." I muttered. I feebly tried to push away the hand, but they easily resisted and hauled me up to a sitting position. I opened my eyes, then quickly shut them again. The light was so bright.
"PFC!" yelled the strict voice again. "Think you could tone down the lantern?"
"Oh...yes sir," a sheepish voice said.
"Open your eyes, sir," the mean voice kept talking. I winced, then decided I had nothing better to do and opened my eyes. I saw Cpl. Lansing, Lt. Cooper, and PFC Smith leaning over me with concerned looks pasted to their faces.
"Hi," I muttered.
"Sir, the doctors need your permission to operate," Cpl. Lansing said to me. "You were hurt badly by the Rebel artillery. You were out cold."
"Win?" I asked them quietly. PFC Smith grinned.
"Yes, sir. We won the battle, the Rebels were all either killed or captured. However, General McDowell was killed in the battle. We've been ordered to march back to Washington, it's only a few miles away. Lincoln said we don't have enough troops to even attempt an assault on Richmond, so we're headed back home."

I updated your sheet for you. How's that?
Let's say you were looted during the battle.
Oh, and yeah, ops are risky. You will probably want to take the risk but you might be able to change your operation just a bit to make it safer?
