On a side not, what about the good ol' Greek ferryman? I doubt people would pay to get into hell, so how does he make his money?

I always enjoyed C.S. Lewis's depiction of Hell in The Great Divorce. It's not scholarly or anything, but it's quite poetic.

Christian Hell is were everyone is sent who don't agree with the church... So that means just about 50% of the planet, and maybe more.
My idea of Hell is each person has their own different prison, where everything they hate surrounds them at all times...

The Hell I imagine has a lot of fire for some reason. Not fire with rocks or something but like fire for decoration. People live in Hell like they do on Earth except maybe it's a bit stricter so yeah.
