In a political sense:

What is a right?

What is a privilege?

What is the difference between a right and a privilege?

What roles should regulations play when it comes to rights and privileges?

I'll have to take a guess on this and say that a right is something that the people are entitled to/should be allowed to do and a privilege is something additional that, while it isn't necessary, gives additional things to the people. Rights are something that are important or necessary - privileges are the additional things that aren't necessary and can be taken away or given freely. A set of regulations is important in the setting of rights for the people, however, I don't think regulations are as important for privileges.

Interesting. Could you give us a few examples of what you believe to be rights and what you believe to be privileges?

I couldn't personally do that. I can however refer you to this for examples of basic rights and then contrast benefit systems for the unemployed as a privilege I guess. I don't know one iota about the subject matter and so I can't be sure.

How ever i can.

You should have the right to be treated fairly
To aquire food
Support your faimily
Stand up for what you belive in

Now some privileges
Aquire more resources/money then you need
Aquire them at all
Hot water
A stable government
A family
A job

A right is something you can demand from the state and they have to give you.

A privilege is something you can have, but only if you have the necessary requirements, for example, enough money.

I made up those definitions.

P.S. A stable government is not a privilege.

We have been along for quite awhile without stable governments, and we have survived without them so its a priviledge.

benefit systems for the unemployed as a privilege

I would agree, if the goverment didnt make it illigal to work on the side. They generally want to know about every bit of money going in and out.

I belive that he is more talking about the government giving you money for not working EG the 'Doll'. Also money for the disabled and elderly is a priviledge and a good one.

Rights and privileges

Right - Something you have

Privileges - Something given to you

Think of a right as your right hand

Think of a privilege as a necklace

Which one was given, which one lasts the longest, and which one is harder to take away?
