Well, the topic. Maybe ArmorGames can make its own radio, (Accessed by Internet of course) which can be heard by anyone.

How will this work?

When someone enters the site, not necessarily a member, in almost every page, there will be a link, which will say: click here to be connected with the radio. Then the user turns on his speakers and listens.

What will this radio play?

It can play anything. From music to announcing Ag's problems.

Will there be any schedule for it?

Of course. In the link there will also be a timetable, stating what is on every hour.

Will it be based somewhere?

Sure. Maybe AG can rent a building for this or base it on the administration building or something.

Who will be responsible?

Maybe Daniel Mc Neely, Carlie, or generally an administrator or moderator or even all the administrators decide together or...anything, i don't know.

Who will choose the programs that will be on?

For this there can be 2 solutions.

1: A new category can be made in AG where in the thread users decide what can be on, or generally suggest and the one who is responsible decides from the best suggestions. Suggestions can be ANYTHING that can be played.

2: The person who is responsible solely decides for this.

How will it be funded if we rent a building?

Maybe users can, IF THEY VOLUNTEER pay a certain amount of money and "mail" it to the AG. These money will also go to the site maintenance. In return, these users will enjoy some more luxuries like, they will be able to choose the programs that can be played or they will have their own category accessible only by them.

Generally this is the idea. It can even have entertainment hours where maybe music like rock or pop, will be on. If there is any technical problem, i believe it can be solved.

Do you think it would we cool if we also interview the Armor Games Developers such as Krin?

This would require a way to record their voice. Not hard, but since I don't live anywhere near Krin, and most don't, might be difficult.

Actually nvm, I know how it would work.

We could just get someone to fly to London, he's not in Thailand anymore.

I think that someone (a mod or an admin or what) would be able to come into contact with some of the great game developers AG has like John, Krin, Joeybetz, ConArtists etc.

Well, Ag is MOSTLY a games site but it is "in" every subject. And besides, this Radio will not only play music. It will also inform about other stuff like what game has recently rose in plays and is considered popular. And Protofai, i know no radio station which needs authorization to play its music (Not saying that Ag will have a whole radio station. like i said it is going to be accessible by PC ONLY. No AM's or FM'S).

Well in the case of an internet radio station you do have to set up agreements with the record companies. This is something I was saying referring to internet based radio stations. AM and FM frequency radio stations I don't know about, but I can tell you that both Pandora, and Last.FM have to make deals with record companies, Last.FM has to apparently pay licensing fees, and Pandora has its own deals with record companies that currently do not allow it to become available outside of the US.

As for other suggestions AG is a company based on one thing, and that is games. They are not a music company of any sort, and we don't need some sort of audio portal like what Newgrounds has. AG does not have much news to report a lot of the time, and anything that they may want us to know they can tell us through their individual blogs, including the main Armor Blog, and the news section on the site. I had to learn this the hard way a while back, and while it is nice to keep people in the forums up to date with new content posted in some of the more obscure blogs, this can be done through the forums themselves if people find it necessary(such as the most recent Alphas from the Last Stand: Union City for instance). Overall I just don't see this idea working no matter what way you look at it.

Also, and sorry for double post, the game developers might only record certain things that many members would like to know and send the recordings to AG. And don't tell me that those are viewed in their profiles because they are not (for example: Many people would like to know what progress has Krin made of Sonny 3 and other stuff).

Yeah but AG can tell us much easier because not only some people don't even see the niews because they don't have anything to post, but also AG can inform us much easier for flash games by this because we hear the stuff from the game Developers themselves so they are more "true".

Crimsonblade, why to set up agreements with record companies? There is no point in that. You are just playing their music, that's all. And if AG needs DJ's for it, I AM SURE that many users who know something about music would like to volunteer if AG hasn't much money to spare.

So what your saying is that you won't believe something as much if its in text form? Honestly if someone is that interested in the work of a game developer then I would think they would go out of their way to find out about certain information on their upcoming projects for instance:

Many people would like to know what progress has Krin made of Sonny 3 and other stuff

The last that I heard concerning his upcoming projects he is currently working on a new Sinjid game before working on the next Sonny 3, and is also updating Colony from time-to-time it would seem. This is just an example of course. My point being that trying to upkeep a radio to hold interviews and such for what I would call a fairly small group of developers(the AG staff consists of less then 15 people last time I checked not including outside developers) is probably not a wise decision from my perspective when they can give this information to people via the Armor Blog instead.

Crimsonblade, why to set up agreements with record companies?

Its a legal thing. Honestly I'm not a lawyer myself, and am mainly going on prior knowledge here, but I can tell you that from what I know of the subject there are a lot of different legal issues that have to be dealt with in order for an internet radio station to apparently be considered "legal".I'm sorry if you don't understand that, but here is a link I found that may be able to help:

The link is good and right but seriously do you know ANY radio station, normal or internet, doing this? None. That's right. And they can't be all illegal! Besides i know no law clearly stating that playing music on the radio is considered distributing music.

It's ok. AG won't die in five years time. In fact quite the opposite is much more possible.

It won't take 5 years, It barely takes 5 months.

You mean like the two that I already listed called Pandora and Last.FM? There are others, but you can research those for yourself.

And they can't be all illegal!

Actually the reason Pandora is set up the way it is, is because it got into legal trouble awhile ago.

Well then, it may be one of the things AG has to do. You don't have to pay rights, you just have to ask their permission. Even if you have to sign deals, You have to do it once for all the time the radio will be operating. I am sorry but i do not know the laws in America very well. I guessed that in this thing they would be the same as in my country.

There is no need for all this legal stuff, all AG has to do is add another tab to the website containing AG radio with original songs.
