The topic says it all.

Why do governments feel the need to make drugs illegal? If anything, it causes a lot more problems than there were before. If they were legalized, there would not be nearly as many violent actions over getting them since the prices would not be nearly as high. There would not been as many people over doing it with drugs, since it would eventually just become a normal thing in day-to-day life.

Drugs are the worst thing possible. You shouldn't do them. People will still get in fights about them.

false! you need medication to survive, the main reason why some drugs are used such as "morphine" (cousin to Heroine) is for medicinal purposes of easing pain and making overall life expectancy to increase.

Unfortunately, people often abuse them.

It seems as if the cry of "legalize drugs!" is being heard everywhere from liberals as well as conservatives. Some people argue that legalizing drugs is the only way to "win" the drug war. I agree that drug enforcement does place a burden on us. Economic resources are used up that could be used elsewhere. But the consequences of legalizing drugs would make an already large problem completely out of control. If one examines the arguments behind drug legalization, it becomes apparent that legalizing drugs won't solve any of our Nation's drug problems.

If there is a factory in happy pot land, and everyone is smoking pot, how do you know that the quality of goods will not drop?

Legalizing drugs could be positive. If your a stressed out office worker who spends his days in a job filled with all this junk he has to do and when he gets home he has no life. He could smoke some Marijuana and all would be awesome.

But while this may heavily reduce suicide it wont stop idiots from driving under the stuff. It's bad enough already imagine if it was readily available from any corner store.

And with a new, addicting, awesome product to gouge prices of the only people winning are the producers.

In my opinion anything that can kill you, reduce your life span, warp your mind or make you see giant purple polar bears should be illegal. That includes Cigarettes, Fast Food, and cleaning products.

But like what happened spanning the thirties, banning booze would only result in crime involving it.

The fact is : If you drop a pack of assorted pills into a 14 year old's hand and say "Take these and you wont feel any stress or pain and your school years will wizz by" that's the best damn marketing I've ever heard.

If you legalize drugs you will have to make driving illegal and all construction jobs will need tough no drug rules so people don't cut their heads off with a saw.

Despite the fact that this topic is now locked, the opening post includes all the arguments for legalisation. Until people find valid points against it other than 'darn hippies', then I really can't see why drugs should not be, at least decriminalised.

The big advantage of legalizing (certain types of) drugs is that you can easier see how many people are using. If it's completely illegal, you can't ask anyone for an honest answer as to how much they use or how many people they know that use. If it's a legal business though, they won't see any harm in giving out numbers on how much customers they've had.
While this might not seem such a big deal, one shouldn't underestimate it. If you want to fix a problem, you have to know all you can about that problem. And the amount of users is a pretty big thing to know.

look it would still be funny, if you were high, watching your friend pee off your roof into your neighbors window, heck even the chimney during story time by the fireplace with dad, The Three Little Pigs, amd loads of alcohol, what comes next....Daddies Drunken Rape, yes your high and having fun, your neighbor is molesting his daughter

Drugs=1 Alcohol=0

the diff. between drugs and beer is, beer: your still trying to do stuff, like drive, If your high you will probably be having fun or just hanging out at home

(and for your neighbor, Great job buddy, while I was taking a leak down your chimney you were ruining your daughters future, when your in prison and rehab, you'll realize that prostitute you got HIV from last week was your 33 year old daughter)

Alcohol is a drug, it just happens to be legal.
