Treyarch, despite being a developer more aware of their community's wants and needs than Infinity Ward still have to gain money, and if there's a winning formula -- one that grosses loads of cash -- they're going to use it. Modern Warfare 2 gathered over a billion dollars, that's not an opportunity that Treyarch want to miss out on.
Not the point.
Granted, any developer would want to snatch a chance at creating a CoD game. Who wouldn't?
All I'm saying is that is isn't good, the publicity and rather childish fanbase is what keeps it so alive.
If I were a lead developer, I would prefer have a couple guns, class bonuses (Spec Ops gets a hipfire bonus, LMG gets less recoil?), anything I can think of to further distinguish players and to stop putting in the most Overpowered gun (as well as actually scaling the weapons right and showing it to the player, if you look at the dmg on one gun then look at it on another, they could be the opposite of what they actually do.)
As long as there are dedicated servers, the lack of powerful anti-cheat engines is redundant. Administrators and moderators will often leave their contact details, especially on popular servers where hackers,
Only server I can immediately think of (out of the many I played) is the EAS Obscurity server. And that's a modded one, with very few servers. I can see why admins and members would go there.
Right now, I'm really happy that the games I'm playing don't have PunkBuster installed. It's currently not letting me play All Points Bulletin, America's Army or Modern Warfare. I also know that many other people have issues with it and have to resort to servers without the technology enabled.
I've no idea what that problem is, Elitemagical. I have PB and it runs perfect on any game I go onto, BFBC2, CoD4, and... Well. That's it... O.o
But they do have to add something, otherwise people will simply say it's a Modern Warfare 2 clone.

The ones with the > in front are ones already done with previous CoD games. The 3 with the < in front are already done on previous First Person Shooters.
Albeit video recording is mostly Xbox only (Halo).
Albeit New Maps are only in all FPS's I know (Unlimited).
Albeit Advanced Customization is only in one FPS I know of (Can't remember name).
Honestly? Doesn't matter they're new into the franchise, they've already been introduced in previous games.
To put it simply - CoD8 introduces some destructible ground:
"OMG!!! Destructible ground! They've never done this before!"
And? BFBC1 did, Operation Flashpoint 10 years ago did.
CoD9 introduces class bonuses (or just makes picking a class much more significant):
"Wtf? No I wanna play with equipment like in COD6!"
Again BFBC2 did this. They all had their bonuses, and they all had their perks (how you fire, for example), good or bad.
CoD10 introduces real time perk changing (think Crysis):
I really don't want to do an impression as some people may rage.
Then again alot of people will >.>
Crysis did it.
All ideas have been done, CoD barely changes it, a camera, a car, and appearance.
Those are the only new thi--
I forgot.
James Bond Nightfire for PS2 had a remote controled tank / helicopter, just a small one, kinda like the one in CoD7.
It could also be used as a camera.
