I'm against how some people practice it, and to contest this I don't think I need to read the bible.

If you wish to truly gain respect from Christians in debates I would suggest you did. Nothing's more fun than having read the bible when the Christian you're debating with hasn't.

How? It's either real or it's just a representation of something else.

Symbolism can exist in the concrete. Take for example the American flag, it has a definite concrete form but it's also a form of symbolism to some.

I would definitely recommend you do, as I said it makes contesting those practices much easier. Also many Christians will through things in that aren't really in the Bible such as purgatory and the holy trinity.

The American flag is nothing more then a symbol. What it symbolizes may hold to something concrete but the flag it self is not it.

No, it's something real, it exists on it's own. Someone who had no idea what it was would see it as just a flag, in this way something real can also display symbolism;however, the symbolism will be subjective.

Why do the majority of religious people on here seem to have no ability to spell?

Anyway, this isn't a gaming site - this is the forum of a gaming site. More specifically, this is the part of the forum of a gaming site where we discuss World Events, Politics, Religion, etc.

Oh come one. Numbers (314, whatever) had the worst spelling and grammar I've even seen on this site. It's a problem that permeates both sides of the debate.

It exists as nothing more then a bit of brightly colored cloth. Going back to the original comparison with Genesis this is like saying the story is real in the sense that it's words on paper.

I've seen that, I wasn't impressed.

Unstealthynoob, please provide evidence and/or links to back up your claims. This is a debate forum. Opinions are welcome as long as they are backed.

Before you try and say it, no the US wasn't founded as a Christian nation. It was established as a secular one. "In God We Trust" and "Under God" were phrases added in the 50s.
