So I'm looking for some new music. I like pretty much everything except for rap. My top bands are Wilco, Animal Collective, The White Stripes, Foxy Shazam, and The Flaming Lips. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
Well, I'd recommend Modest Mouse but Alt already did; I created a monster. If you find an interest in progressive music you could take a look at porcupine tree. Other than that I've nothing very accessible to suggest; I only like a handful of bands/musical genre.
Here are some bands worthy of attention and their main style, in my opinion:
Coldplay - Soft Rock Porcupine tree - Progressive/Psychedelic Genesis (1970-1976)- Progressive Modest Mouse - Indie/Alternative Crimson King - Progressive Pink Floyd - Progressive Blackfield - Alternative Dave Matthews Band - Folk/Jazz/Jam Band
On Built to Spill, definitely listen to the album 'Perfect From Now On' all the way through. Indie at its finest.
That couldn't be more true...I wonder if I still have that album somewhere. I remember buying it before knowing MM but I think I threw it out of disdain because I found indie distasteful when I was young. God I'd like to have it back now...
try listening to techno, no one listens to techno so you'll be unique!
Try DJ splash,DJ Mangoo,DJ raaban,East Clubbers, and Cascada.(her "evacuate the dance floor"SUCKS, its silly how everyone likes it all of a sudden and hated her original songs)
Fallensky: I know all of them but three, who i am looking up. I'll let you know what i think.
Google567: I know them
thisisnotalt: haha oh yeah, i know radiohead
slayguy8: kesha is trash. travis mccoy not much better
TRUdog: I honestly don't see how MGMT sounds like the White Stripes. and please tell me you know some other songs, because Electric Feel is not their best.
Google567: I already love most 80's music
holt24: that is the broadest suggestion anyone has given so far. punk rock? progressive rock? poprock? indie rock? soft rock? rock n roll? make yourself more clear please.
samy: I already listen to all of them except noah and the whale and emory, i'll look them up
