Hey dudes I've heard before that darwin was a racist but decided to look into it a tad so I am going to show some stuff that says he's racist and someone else show some stuff to say he wasn't.

Heres something that says he's a racist.
Heres something that says he's not a racist.

Here's something that says hes not racist.

Heres something else that says he is.

So feel free to discuss it down below.

i dont think darwin was a racist, he is just atheist, not racist

Darwin wasn't an atheist, he was Christian. Though he did realize what his theory meant in relation to his religion.

being a Christian myself, I think the bible is in metaphorical terms that people of ancient times could understand

The problem for Christians relegating the Bible to just being metaphorical is that there is no clear line between what is and is not suppose to be metaphor. With that you can even claim God is nothing but a metaphor. Also parts regarded as metaphor like the garden of Eden seem to have very real effects in the parts that are not regarded as metaphor, such as Jesus dying so that God could forgive us for the original sins. (the ones Adam and Eve did that never actually took place, but was just a metaphor.)

Anyway this is getting off topic. Though I'm not sure what else there is to say on the topic.

Racism was normal in those times. You'd be "weird" if you weren't racist back then, honestly.

it was the norm.

Darwin was not a racist. He simply recognized the point that with natural selection, in some circumstances some people are more well suited to their environment than others. For example an Eskimo in the arctic is more well suited than a desert nomad in the arctic. If the nomad dies it doesn't in any way mean he is less superior than the Eskimo. All it means is that the nomad is less suited to the arctic environment than the Eskimo.
