You are better off playing the classic Final Fantasies until The Last Story comes out. I'm a Final Fantasy fan, so I have the right to say this. Final Fantasy 13 is CRAP compared to other modern works.
If you hate having to take 11 minutes to fight a normal battle, then this is not the game for you. What's worse is that the developing team EXPECTS you to have this take that long! After every fight, you have a timer that shows you how long it took to finish that fight. If I completed a fight in 8 minutes, the expected time would be 7-9 minutes. I'm not joking.
Final Fantasy 13 makes a better movie than a game. Granted, it has a great story. Fantastic if I do say so myself. Come on though! Every legit gamer knows that gameplay is everything, much like in a court case where evidence is everything.
It is a beautiful, priceless flower, but wilts and makes us regret paying for it.
What you should do is order FF7 for the Ps1 on Ebay; that's what you should do. In my opinion, FF games took a wrong turn after FFX. I don't like the idea of FF ressembling a MMORPG. Square came up with the turn by turn battle, they almost created the traditionnal rpg genre; they should stick with it. I'm a legit gamer, and I can admittedly say that FF7's gameplay had absolutely nothing special, however, the story is so awesome it makes up for that and creates a masteful piece of art. Story is important, every legit gamer should know that. At least, that's what I think but lets not extrapolate with examples for now...
Honestly ff13, is awfull, its fight, after fight after fight. its really boring after a while all you do is press X! At lest all others had a purpose this one is just cool graphics.

i agree with this 100%. i was rather diappointed with the game play but it is a gorgeous game. i had a habit of falling asleep through the dragged out cut scenes.
