Actually he wasn't referring to each individual atom splitting, as that is what causes nuclear fission, however the atoms will no longer be working together with the same nearby atoms, so in that sense yes, the atoms that make us up will 'split'.
I think we will stop existing. In the second yoou brain shut down, there's no more you; that's the end of the story. But my 12 years old brother is pretty sure that, after he dies, he will go to an Apple Store XD
I will go to pastafarian heaven where a beer volcano and stripper factory await me X)
Nah seriously, I will go nowhere. Like many said the body will be recycled, decomposed, whatever. And the mind stops existing when the brain dies, so not really much left. Ah, the eternal cycle of lif- uh, ressources..
Every single religion and even atheism whether or not you count that as a religion has an explanation for this, afterlife, reincarnation, hell, eternal pain and suffering. If you are simply asking for my opinion I would put my opinion along side holts. When we die we go to earth, or we go to hell which is supposedly soporsed to be in the earths core. :P
I don't know. I mean, how can you answer that? Lol. It depends on your belief. You either go to heaven or hell depending on what sort of person you were or you get reincarnated.
But then I keep thinking scientifically, how can you experience anything after your brain ceases to function? =/
