You say it like we gave them independence last week not decades ago. They have had time to act, to rebuild their economy and to voice complaints. Britain no longer has moral culpability because all those who brought India into the British Empire are long dead and so are most of those that set it free.
Actually, you know, India isn't a bad country. The people are good, they all want India to progress, and be right up there, next to Britian, USA, etc. But the Indian Government is the only reason why India hasn't progressed. Also partly due to religion and customs. Mahatma Gandhi had tried to dissolve boundaries between religions when strove for independence. Also, he made sure that India had a government system ready to be put in place before he demanded independence peacefully.
So, just because of a few people who valued money more than work, India is still sort of downtrodden. If you look up Indian e-papers, you will not believe how the media criticizes the know corrupt politicians. They are humiliated, and the Indian love that. The Indians want the CWG to go ahead as planned, but due to these few idiotic, and stupid people, their ambitions are being held back.
-sigh- it's a shame that droughts are often complained about in India and then BOOM - too much water. Without wanting to drag religion into this - if there was a God then that's either being lazy and answering all the prayers for water at once or He has something against India.
I do understand the concept of monsoon season thank you very much. I just meant that even during monsoon season India doesn't usually get this much rain - Isn't it the worst for 50 years?
