This is a march being held by the Daily Show and The Colbert Report on, well jsut read the exerpt from Facebook that I so kindly copied and pasted.
"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Who among us has not wanted to open their window and shout that at the top of their lungs?
Seriously, who? ... Because we're looking for those people. We're looking for the people who think shouting is annoying, counterproductive, and terrible for your throat; who feel that the loudest voices shouldn't be the only ones that get heard; and who believe that the only time it's appropriate to draw a Hitler mustache on someone is when that person is actually Hitler. Or Charlie Chaplin in certain roles.
Are you one of those people? Excellent. Then we'd like you to join us in Washington, DC on October 30 -- a date of no significance whatsoever -- at the Daily Show's "Rally to Restore Sanity." Ours is a rally for the people who've been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) -- not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority. If we had to sum up the political view of our participants in a single sentence... we couldn't. That's sort of the point.
Think of our event as Woodstock, but with the nudity and drugs replaced by respectful disagreement; the Million Man March, only a lot smaller, and a bit less of a sausage fest; or the Gathering of the Juggalos, but instead of throwing our feces at Tila Tequila, we'll be actively *not* throwing our feces at Tila Tequila. Join us in the shadow of the Washington Monument. And bring your indoor voice. Or don't. If you'd rather stay home, go to work, or drive your kids to soccer practice... Actually, please come anyway. Ask the sitter if she can stay a few extra hours, just this once. We'll make it worth your while.
Sounds like you hate america. This is going to be the best thing that could happen to America from a private citizen. I know for a fact though that the extreme rights and extreme lefts are going to condemn it...
Sounds like you're quick to make assumptions about people.
From this article, it sounds like "the rally to restore sanity" is about a quiet rally of busy people rallying for the busy people to respectfully disagree?
So. What's the purpose of this march except what I believe to be rallying against shouting? Last I heard, that was part of our speech respectfully given to us. What are they really rallying for? To reform how we rally? This excerpt from Facebook sounds like a rally planner that's trying to make jokes.
The guys in charge of the rally are from Comedy Central. They are newscasters who take political pundits and show how stupid and diased all of the newsmen are. The two guys are both extreme opposites so they are going together to make americans see that it is possible for the rights and lefts to get along. They are pissed off that the rights are being completely unreasonable and stupid and they are pissed at the lefts for not doing anything about it. They are also mad at the Tea party for not having clear leadership and therefore just making a bad situation worse. They are going to Washington to try to get the rights and lefts and the majority of america to see the light. That you don't have to vote along party lines and that if you do you are just trying to get re-elected and therefore are being a complete waste of taxpayer money and resources.
If I lived in that state, I would make every effort to go. Those two guys are serious geniuses. Masters of satire, and really logical people in general.
