Jesus (religion) is always depicted as someone with fair skin light brown hair and blue eyes. this is most likely very wrong. would you agree that Jesus would have dark brown hair and tanned skin like every other Jew like him?

I once said this to a Christian guy i knew and he got a bit annoyed at me for some reason. hence the thread.

That's because the depictions of Jesus most are familiar with were painted by Europeans, for whom it made sense to paint in their own image.

I would probably go even further and say that Jesus would look like what most people would nowadays describe as a terrorist. A Palestinian Jew, living in an age where it was common for men keep long beards. He probably looks more like Osama Bin Laden than any white figure.

that's what i think too. it is ironic that Christians and the like are insulting the looks of someone they worshiped without realizing.

Insulting? Maybe, but we're human and we all want something to relate to, so we paint the image that we can relate to the most.

Also note that different people think of Jesus' race and appearance differently.. Black Jesus comes to mind.

Chinese Jesus is another one. Being a Christian, I am fully aware that Jesus would look like a typical Jew of his time. Without photographs of any sort an exact appearance is unknown. In the end however, I don't mind him being shown in a European manner. Depictions are mere depictions. I also must agree with Wolf on relation. That's why some say that Jesus was black and why you may see Jesus shown with different ethnicities.

You can't always trust art for realistic depictions.

I am so used to seeing Jesus as the stereotype, so the image above me seems almost Alien (Ironic)

Stare at the four dots for around 20 seconds. Then stare at the wall and see if you can see him. That's what I imagine him to be.

In Asia, Jesus looks Asian. In Honduras, he looked Central American. In America/Europe, he's white. We make him what we identify with.

but it is now stupid as people should now have enough worldly views to know what he looked like. it's almost racist.
