I think he's a decent songwriter; a great lyricist, and has had a lot of inspiration on different artists, since he's not exactly country, and he's not really rock and roll either. I know he's probably had more impact on country music than rock, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be in the Rock Hall of Fame, he's been snubbed for many years, and he wasn't even inducted before he died. I think I have 6 of his songs in my Last.fm library. He was a very talented guitarist for his time.

Yes i enjoy Johnny Cash especially his music before he died it is considered to be goth, a interesting fact is that Johnny Cash was the first American to learn of joseph stalin death.

By goth, do you mean dark? I know he talked about guns and drugs in some of his songs. What do you mean by the first to learn of Stalin's death? Please verify, my grandfather would love to know about this.

Very interesting that entire post. Very weird you can find his music in goth music stores. How exactly do you know that anyway?

I'd like to know what you read. Anyway, I don't like many country guys, but Cash would probably be my favorite. But he's not really just a country guy, he's got rock too. A great guitarist, anyone who's heard Folsom Prison Blues knows that.

I'd like to know your other top 4. Are you a country fan, or do you like a lot of genres? Please tell me.

Frederic Chopin, Steve Perry, Phil Collins/Genesis, Freddie Mercury/Queen.

I listen to just about everything, although I typically don't listen to much Rap/Hip-hop music.

I feel the reason Johnny Cash isnt remember as much is because he was viewed as a true American Patriot helping the fight against the communism and when the Soviet Union began to fall there wasn't much need for him.

Im so glad you made a forum about him i think country music really needs more recognition on AG. Personally i love Johnny Cash he's one of my many idols and such an incredible icon. Has anyone seen the film about him "Walk The Line"? its brilliant.

Like most music films, they probably etremely exagerrated a lot of things about him. I've never seen it, but I remember the commercials.
