Although my question was serious. We from the age of 11 and up know what these things are and these designers in all their aged glory didn't realize. I highly doubt that.

Maybe they didn't realize until they were done, or had made a lot of progress, and didn't feel like starting over.

That's not a very good excuse. When they had to recall all these toys they lost much more money. God knows no parent wants to come home to see their child's face buried in Wolverine's crotch.

To answer your question I would say all of the above. I know some of those toys were not properly thought out, but really? A Harry Potter vibrating broomstick?
