LotR has too much boring stuff in-between that doesn't have much to do with the story.

In fact, everything told in the book has to do not inevitably with the story but with the background of Middle Earth...
Of course, for the young reader, the whole chapter called "About the Hobbits" can be skipped, for it doesn't bring essential things to the story...
and of course Lord of The Rings is hard to read...but it's what makes the great books....
I mean, everyon can read Eragon, it's just so easy, nothing is really complicated, relations between the characters are reduced to the minimum...result:it's boring!
Harry Potter is quite better, for the relations evolves all the years long, and stuff happens in the last three books which are quite serious and sometimes really hard...in fact the last three books are hard, really dark, but I think thy're also the bests.

Anyway, Lord of The Rings is hard to read, but is the Bible of Fantasy, and no one could ever deny it.

Lotr. Harry Potter is just an immature show for small gullubale children, who go out in the woods, pick up sticks, and pretend to be Harry Potter.

then Lotr is for middle aged men living with their parents dueling with plastic swords

harry potter's format always appealed to me... like having space between words >_<

errrf Lord of The Rings is my fav book, but I don't duel with plastic swords....^^
Plus, I read Harry Potter when I was young, and I still do now, and I still find it great, even if the first books are a little childish...

It's quite normal, it's a hard book, it's really dense, long, and the story doesn"t begin with action scenes or so...

I reckon because of the new Harry Potter movie, it's better than LOTR.

LOTR is so much better, They have to use swords to kill, not a blast from their wands. That was a real war not not stand 50ft. away and blast each other.

Well let's go, I'm 19 your 14, I read it for the first time when I'm 11, and I read it almost once a year since this time...
I read a dozen times Bilbo, and three times Silmarillon...
What do you want to talk about?
The cdreation of Middle Earth by Illuvatar?
The fallen of Melkor, one of the Valar?
Or the path of the fellowship through the Emyn Muil?(bewerae, here's a trap!)

Lord of the Rings wins easy. That is a great trilogy maybe one of the best made fighting scenes were incredible (I know I love medieval weaponary) they were much closer to the real thing then most films. Aragon in particular fought with his long sword very accuratly.

Harry Potter ,granted this one was funny, just cant compete with Lord of the Rings. Its action scenes are pathetic really, he just gets lucky everytime, and they cut most of the important things out of the movie.
