Anyone who thinks that Harry Potter is better listen to this: LoTR books: was the precursor to HP. Without LoTR, everyone would just think HP is a blasphemous story. Gandalf would and could own every single pathetic HP wizard, for he is immortal and they are winy teenagers. There's a good chance there would be no HP without LoTR LOTR movies: plenty of oscars, and they were all made AT THE SAME TIME.
HP movies: take years to make, and they all SUCK. Bad acting, butchering the story(i have read all the HP books, and some of them +5 times). These earn an award here and there, but will NEVER be as good as LOTR.
What did HP do? NOTHING What did LOTR do? Spawned an entire generation of modern fantasy and literature.
OMG. i just put a post saying that these two books were my favorite series. it's hard. LOTR is classic, and is just plain awesome. Harry potter is good all around.
The lord of rings movies were WAY more epic than the harry potter movies. But the harry potter books were WAY better than the lord of the rings books, which were extremely boring.
