Christian Metal? Loool.. that makes about as much sense as those who autoproclaimed their genre as Love Metal ^^ nowadays anyone can create a new genre of 'metal'.
Christian metal, also known as white metal, is heavy metal music with a Christian message. Christian metal is typically performed by professed Christians sometimes principally for Christians who listen to heavy metal music and many times produced and distributed through various Christian networks. Christian metal is regarded more of a concept rather than a genre since it has no specific musical characteristics.
I think I can state that I also like a band that would almost qualify as christian metal: Hammerfall. It's Power Metal, not heavy. But listening to their texts clearly mark them as believers, though it is not extreme or prozelytising in any way.
Does it really need it's own name? Most of the songs that DO have Christian messages in them are still under specific subgenres of Metal such as Heavy Metal. If we had sub-subgenres for things such as Christian Metal then we might as well have Nihilistic Metal, Greed Metal, etc.
