Hey guys. I was wondering if there are more fans of Folk, Pirate or Viking metal? If so, if some people have some new bands I might not have.

If you want examples, search for bands like Alestorm, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Korpiklaani or Heidevolk

Note; Most bands are Scandinavian, German or Dutch, and have quite some numbers in their language.

I only listen to Eluveitie (Folk Metal), Amon Amarth (Folk/Viking? Metal) and a bit of Finntroll (um, Folk?). I saw Ensiferum live at a festival and they're quite good (I loved the ballad they played :3), but I haven't really started listening to them up to now.
I quite like one album of Amorphis, a group that made Viking Metal in their earlier albums, though the album I like (Tuonela) already isn't that style anymore (they switched style rather dramatically).

.. and wtf is Pirate Metal? o.0

Pah... Everyone sees the great bands live... except for me.

try the songs Keelhauled AND leviathan by the band alestorm on youtube. You'll like it.

And I'll try those bands you mentioned when I have more time. I've heard alot about Amon Amarth and Finntroll.

How the eff is Agalloch not at the top of everyone's list? I waqs going to mention Eluveitie, but someone already took care of that. Holy sh**, Agalloch puts every other folk metal band to shame. They're an album experience, though, so I'd recommend downloading both The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain, and if you realllly love them, you can search a while and obtain a legitimate leaked copy of their upcoming Marrow of the Spirit(I heard it was leaked recently). Agalloch basically takes folk metal, black metal, post-rock, neofolk, doom metal, and prog and blend it together into one extremely delicious package of auditory joy.

Yo ho ho.. lol you're right, sounds great!
I'm not sure, but you may quite like Finntroll, though it is different; but some passages of Alestorm vaguely sounded like them. Try the song Trollhammaren if you're listening to Finntroll.

Enslaved is the only semi Viking Metal band I listen to. Not a fan of the genre overall =w=

Frankly, I just started looking for the bands you mentioned above (2nd post) and I love all of them. Also, I did take the song Trollhammaren from Finntroll. Great song, so that's another for my collection :P Thanks!

They're awesome aswell. Just like Finntroll, another for my collection.

Do us a favor. Share more thought, keep this topic alive, mention some bands and their songs. Everyone's happy that way

Unfortunately, there aren't that much. Epic folk and viking are closely related tho, so you should check those out aswell.

Pity. You should check out some more, maybe that'll draw you to this scene :P

I notice a lack of the epic subgenre that is now sweeping the nation, "Fish Metal"

It's a parody-esqe thing. They invented the genre of fish metal though.
