I only listen to Eluveitie (Folk Metal), Amon Amarth (Folk/Viking? Metal) and a bit of Finntroll (um, Folk?). I saw Ensiferum live at a festival and they're quite good (I loved the ballad they played :3), but I haven't really started listening to them up to now. I quite like one album of Amorphis, a group that made Viking Metal in their earlier albums, though the album I like (Tuonela) already isn't that style anymore (they switched style rather dramatically).
How the eff is Agalloch not at the top of everyone's list? I waqs going to mention Eluveitie, but someone already took care of that. Holy sh**, Agalloch puts every other folk metal band to shame. They're an album experience, though, so I'd recommend downloading both The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain, and if you realllly love them, you can search a while and obtain a legitimate leaked copy of their upcoming Marrow of the Spirit(I heard it was leaked recently). Agalloch basically takes folk metal, black metal, post-rock, neofolk, doom metal, and prog and blend it together into one extremely delicious package of auditory joy.
try the songs Keelhauled AND leviathan by the band alestorm on youtube. You'll like it.
Yo ho ho.. lol you're right, sounds great! I'm not sure, but you may quite like Finntroll, though it is different; but some passages of Alestorm vaguely sounded like them. Try the song Trollhammaren if you're listening to Finntroll.

Frankly, I just started looking for the bands you mentioned above (2nd post) and I love all of them. Also, I did take the song Trollhammaren from Finntroll. Great song, so that's another for my collection :P Thanks!

They're awesome aswell. Just like Finntroll, another for my collection.
Yarr! Pirate metal is extremely epic. I thank this topic for introducing it to me.
Do us a favor. Share more thought, keep this topic alive, mention some bands and their songs. Everyone's happy that way
I saw Eluveitie live, too. They're not bad.
I just heard pirate metal for the first time. And I gotta say: Pirate Metal FTW!!^^
Unfortunately, there aren't that much. Epic folk and viking are closely related tho, so you should check those out aswell.
Enslaved is the only semi Viking Metal band I listen to. Not a fan of the genre overall =w=
Pity. You should check out some more, maybe that'll draw you to this scene :P
