Hey, guys. My name is Mann. I'm new but I though I'd start a topic. (: So, here it goes.
How many of you are in Martial Arts of some form? -Karate, Tae kwan doe, ju jitsu, Exa. (Sorry if I mispelled)
I, myself, am in Karate. I've been talking it for a could months now and it's really helped me out. I have better control. And my mind seems to be at peace. I don't know, that's just me. But for those of you who don't know what Martial is; It's a form of fighting. It includes technique in punching, kicking, blocking, wrestling, weapons, and more. Ask if you have any more questions about what it is. So, I'm going to get to my point. How many of you take and enjoy Martial Arts? What kind? How long have you been in it? What is your belt color? and what are some things you know what you would like to share about it? Feel free to further expand my topic.
And for those of you who are not in Martial Arts, this can include you as well. Ask some questions. See what it's about. I have plenty of answers. If you have gotten this far than I suppose my attempt at entertaining you and getting you to post here is halfway successful. I would appreciate it if you finished my success. Ha-ha. Thanks for reading, guys. Peace.
I was tempted to take tai-kwon-do but I didn't have the time. I have gotten into boxing and teaching myself free fighting which is where I take good moves from different martial arts.
I'm sure if you made the time you might have it. It's a choice. Unless, you have to wash your cat 7 times a day. Idk. But, that's cool. I've been working on my splits. Ha-ha.
I trained in MMA and Espada y daga, a form of Filipino stick fighting for three years, and Five Elements Kung Fu for a little over two months.
I had attained the rank of Zero Dan when I had to stop, I had a lot of fun with it. I didn't reach that level of 'calm' you're talking about. Then again I've always been pretty calm which might be the reason.
That's pretty awesome. Never heard of Espada y daga but sounds... interesting.
And that's why I said it's just me. I've been in Karate for about a month and I'm testing to get my yellow belt next thursday. I'm moving quickly. But, that's not very long overall. And I'm 'Calm'. So, it depends on how you take it. How much you put into it. Not saying you didn't. It's just how I am. I feel great. I didn't before I started Martial Arts.
I have my purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu, and have trained in Muay Thai on and off for nearly 7 years. I used to study Wing Chun when I was younger, from 8 until 12, but haven't practiced any since. I am also on the tail end of a sabbatical from all forms of martial arts as I haven't had the time or money to train like I used to. Hopefully I'll be back into it by the summer.
I did some taekwondo and karate but not for longer than half a year for each. Took up gym 3 or 4 months ago and find it alot better than all the fighting sports so I just do that, looking into boxing though in the future.
