Why is gravity a force? Why do some materials combust when they meet each other? Post a force like fire, gravity, etc. and tell properties about it that really are strange. ( ex. why don't water and oil mix?) No gory or gross topics.
Well you see, the universe is actually a 14 year old greasy teenager's science project. He needed to make rules and equations so that stuff would happen. He decided to make some chemicals flammable and others not. Of course, he did leave this thought in a few people's consciouses. Those people, people like me, who deep inside them know the truth have subconsciously put the truths about our universe into games such as Doodle God and The Powder Toy and posted in threads like these.
If it wasn't, you wouldn't know about it. It's like saying "Why does sound exist?" or "Why do monkeys exist?". The only real answer to your question is "Because it is".

Is this really a serious question? The only answer is, physics work because they do
Then again, you'd really have to ask if the laws of physics really exist or they're just the best guess we have at how it really works. I'm thinking it's really gnomes.

Yes, and then you can test this hypothesis to see if the gnomes will catch you when you fall off a cliff
To make a more-serious answer on this thread, physics exist because it exists. It's a natural law. We are in an orbit because the sun has a strong gravitational pull (thank goodness it does!) We have gravity because of our earth's pressure from the atmosphere. In this sense, some planets may be stronger in gravity than ours. Anyways, there is no gravity in space because it is not concentrated.
Why would the gnomes catch me when I fall when gnomes are the equivalent of atoms in the gnomic hypothesis of the universe? Do you believe that atoms will catch you if you fall off a cliff?
Oil does not mix with water, because oil is much, much thicker. When you are done stirring and leave it sit, the water will actually rise above the oil and sit on top of it as though it was completely untouched! Fascinating, really...
