meh... I really like their old stuff like "Faint", "Figure.09", "A Place for My Head" etc. The album Minutes to Midnight was also okay because there were some goods songs on it like "Given up", "Bleed it out" or "No more Sorrow". Unfortunately there were also some on it that sucked... But I think their new stuff is just BS... Sad that they changed their style... I miss the crossover/Nu metal...
Used to listen to them when I was young. Still think the music is great (the older albums), though I'm no longer a real fna of them. I grew to punk at first, then to metal, and nowadays viking.
Still, I love BReaking the habit. And What I've done was the first song I learned to play on bass.
Listening to Minutes to Midnight at the moment. Which is my only album, actually, but... It is nice to listen to. I heard a bit of one of their new songs, and it was a bit too... beh for me. But never underestimate before it has had the chance to grown on you
They went from a unique and refreshing blend of rap/rock to mainstream but still somewhat good (minutes to midnight) to complete crap with absolutely no originality, joining the generic pop genre (catalyst). Their old songs were good and original, their new ones are lame and generic. And I am getting sick of all the self-titled "real fans" who keep exploding every time people like me say the aforementioned critisisms, saying things along the lines of, "if its Linkin park it is automatically good, they are still the same Linkin Park in spite of the changes, they will always rock (etc) and if you disagree then you are stupid and not a good fan". A good fan brings critisism as well as praise, something that the "real fans' don't understand.
They were pretty decent 10 or 15 years ago when they did Meteora and Hybrid Theory.
Then they couldn't think of any music to do for 5 years or sumn, or whatever was going through their minds, and then started on some bogus *** ultra-mainstream ****ty **** when they started off again.
That is the story as supported by the last two posts here
Off thier newest album, I never get the hype over the song "catalyst". Its not that good, better songs on the albbum, I can only say I like one though.
I think they're still pretty good, but I think their earlier ablums were better. They've been trying to become better, but they are losing their fans along the way. Hopefully their next ablum will be better.
Well, I'm young. I only know their newer music and I can say I like it. I've heard Minutes to Midnight, which overall is better that their really new stuff (Catalyst) and I've only heard a few songs from before Minutes to Midnight but it is better too.
Going mainstream does give them more publicity in my opinion.
