The Inheritance Cycle used to be a trilogy:Eragon,Eldest, and Empire. But that doesn't mean that the 4th is Empire. And i'd like to hear people's suggestions of the next dragon rider (please not this junk about Arya or Orik being it). By the way it's coming out July 2011-July 2012
I'm thinking his name was Vanir. @CommanderDude:It's just common sense. I mean, Orik was the only dwarf to EVER fly a dragon. Also, dwarves are all about coming from the stones and whatnot, so flying just isn't ment for them.
Here's the problem. We know there's going to be a new Rider, we know the entire cast of characters, so nothing is going to be "unexpected". But of course people will say otherwise. I'd view unexpected as a character coming out of the blue who's been playing things quietly without our knowledge. Now THAT would be fun. Christopher Paolini should take lessons from Steven Erikson on plot development. Why? Because we all know the out come of book 4.
I am pretty sure Roran will be the next rider, Arya would be way obvious, then again Roran was also an obvious choice...
There's no such thing as an unobvious choice since we know what will happen. Paolini set his plot up so we knew everything before hand, is there even a point in keeping it a secret? Who could possibly be a "surprise" unless it is an unknown character, but even then the reader would be left feeling ripped off. The seiries is simply too flawed to sustain any sort of hype.
WRONG! Christopher Paolini said that 1. the Dragon Rider is GOOD 2. It's a person we've heard about before in the books. 3. and It's obvious that the Varden succeed in getting the last egg.
Yeah Murtag is good too, look at where he is now. So I still cling to the idea that it's another slave of Galbatorix.
Also it unlikely to be human since it would take a long time to train them in the art of magic, which they are useless without.
Would really ruin Roran's character if he became a rider. He's the strong stoic human leader, whose strength comes from knowing he is only human and is confident in that. I would hate to see him take that route and cheapen the "surprise" force for good.
Alright then, let's see what sort of argument I can muster up...For one thing, the dwarves aren't part of the spell, so the dragon egg CANNOT hatch for a dwarf, no matter what. For another thing, the dwarves don't WANT to become part of the spell.
It's definitely NOT going to be a dwarf. If Paolini said that it's someone who's been mentioned before, it's probably either someone incredibly so obvious that none of us are thinking about it, or someone who has been mentioned but very briefly.

1.Humans werent part of it either but oh wait they were added. 2.Im pretty sure they would do it if it was that or have an angry Galbatorix on their hands.

Definitely true. And also he would have to do something about Katrina. I dont know...
P.S. Commanderdude Orik is NOT going to be Dragon Rider!!! His whole race would despise him!
