This thread tells you mainly how to get merits and the guidelines people check for them, with the added bonus of how to become a moderator. Pretty much all the info that is in that thread mods and admins use today, so it's still in use. Considering that merits won't be a part of AG3, I'm pretty sure mods are rarely (if ever) handing out merits anymore. Also, they're only 25 AP which really shouldn't take much more time to earn by rating games and leaving decent comments.
