The question is simple... What would happen when an unstoppable force collided with an unmovable object?
Will both be destroyed?
Will nothing happen?
Will the world explode?

State your opinion and discuss.

@nemo12 - No energy can ever be created or destroyed, due to the first law of thermodynamics.

Oh, right. Energy can't be created or destroyed; it's just converted into another type of energy. Same thing goes with matter.

No doubt, a ton of heat would be released.

Reckon that if measured, it could be an infinite amount, like from the Big Bang?

Well, it would have to be an infinite amount of heat, but the Big Bang had as much energy as the universe has energy now.

Big Bang was finite, as much energy as there is in the universe today was in the big bang

I defiantly think the unstoppable object would split and continue on never stopping only having is course be altered by the immovable object.

for it to be split, some parts of it must move, EX one half of it will move a tiny bit away to form a gap that parts the two halfs

I don't think it's possible to have an unmovable object, so thus the point is moot in my opinion

Wait... this makes no sense. Chuck Norris can move any object.

well this scenario does create and endless paradox. But assuming that the unstopable force, which would have to be matter in order to properly convey the force, would shatter itself, but continue on with still infinite energy. But because none of us know any of the parameters of this like, can the foce me split but still be infinite and unstoppable and then the debate about that is further debated. Lets say this unstoppable force was conveyed through matter, like a ball, and the immovable object was an immovable and indestructable wall. when the ball hits the wall it may simple bounce off, losing none of the energy it had, that can be thought of as "unstoppable". and again i shall refer to my point of "we dont know the parameters" what exactly would unstoppable be? forever moving? un-alterable? Now back to the ball and wall scenerio. Lets say that unstoppable was more like un-alterable and forever moving in one direction. the ball would hit the wall but no-one knows what happens next and so a paradox is formed and the world is ripped apart and the minds of people discussing it are too.

Aha! the egg was the immovable and the sperm was the unstoppable...

The big bang ensued and chuck is god.

I will sleep easy tonight

it depends on what the force is.

if it's a neutrino (see [url=http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrino]), then it would go through the object without affecting the force and object.
