It is a discreet rule to not make threads about certain users, especially demeaning ones. However we are obliged to answer your questions.
I've talked to Freakenstein myself quite a bit. One should be a moderator if he/she wishes to. I believe we have enough moderators for now, seeing as Walker has been recently promoted.
Do you have to go somewhere to become mod?
Physically, I do not believe so. You are hand-picked and notified online.
Do you get paid?
It is volunteer work, you don't get payed.
How do you know what your doing?
How would you even be considered if you didn't know what to do?
And remember, do not get your hopes up. Don't ask for modship. It's the guaranteed method of killing your chances.
7. How do I become a moderator and who are the current moderators? If you would like to become a moderator, you first need to show that you are responsible on the site; show a good posting record and maturity and you may be granted these exclusive rights! We will usually hand pick moderators, but if you feel you have what it take, contact us on the Contact page... we are really, really picky though! It is best to not make a topic about becoming a moderator. Remember that with these exclusive rights comes responsibility. It isn't all fun and games. To view the list of staff for the site see the About. DO NOT ASK TO BECOME A MODERATOR OR WHAT YOU CAN DO TO BECOME ONE!
Well, the mods review who should become a mod and work with an admin to suggest who should become the next mod, quote if wrong. All, or nearly all, of the current mods have to agree if the nominee should be a mod because they are a team and need to be able to work together under common ground. It would be a very quick and rash decision if only a couple of the handful of mods believed he/she was good enough.
Do you get paid?
Paid means you get hired by Daniel McNeely, and the mods are just users with extra perks, so...nah. I think they get to keep their lives though.
How do you know what your doing?
All rules point to "action will be dealt with at the mods/admins' discretion. The staff trusts the moderation team SO much that they don't have them on leashes--they trust them enough to make their own decisions. Of course, if the mod was too quick on that gavel, or hammer, or mallet, a user can appeal and see if that action can be overturned. Now quoting Ian:
A mod's decision is 99.99% correct.
Can you edit threads?
You can edit thread names. Not sure about actual replies. Haven't heard about that happen.
They go around AG looking for things violating the Terms of Agreement or spam. How do they know how they're doing it? They must have the Terms of Agreement somewhat in their minds, and can spot repeated threads, spam, and trolls with ease. Please tell me if this is at all accurate.
Whether or not he would be a good candidate we aren't really in the need for mods now as knight pointed out. If some more moderaters get married some positions will open up though, I'm sure.
a mod keeps peace when people are fighting, bans people who are out of line and uncooperative with the mods, they filter thru the materials on the website, approving if what you say is allowed, so if i go off on soandso(i really hope there isnt such a person) calling them stupid and hateful things, the mods take care of me at their discretion, if they believe a slap on the wrist is enough than so be it, but if they believe further measures are needed, so be it, and it will vary from person to person. so if you WERE a mod, you would just go around busing yourself with tasks of making Armor Games a friendly community(hence community section) for all the users.
and i thought freakenstein WAS a mod, if hes not, i dont see why he couldnt be, i think hed have the material for it(go freakenstein!) but as has been said, there are plenty, and they do their wonderful job, plus anyways, freakenstein would have to concent also.
I wasn't saying I should become a mod. Just someone else. I think Freakenstein should.
Took95 -- I know, I am a kind person, but that's not the point. The point isn't that I should become a mod (by far now I probally won't become a mod) the title says it. I was just asking if Freakenstein should be a Moderator.
Sarthra21 -- Yes it is Accurate.
Graham -- He's just someone.
knight_34 -- Thanks for the info. I probally broke my chances for that anyways.
How do you figure? I don't have the shiny title or the blue text. Maybe it's the way I answer questions.... I sorry
Frank? No way, that guy is suchhhhhhh a spammer. He would be terrible.
I also troll and call people ninnies. I'm surprised I haven't gotten talked about it lately. I do it all the time.
Don't ask for modship. It's the guaranteed method of killing your chances.
"There is a difference between asking and offering" --Ubertuna
My opinion...I don't have experience to be one. In my time, there hasn't been anything drastic or sudden attacks or events in the site that would have me wondering "what would I do?" or complain and say "hey this guy should have been taken care of already!" I also haven't really "helped" with anything. Being a mod is more than just locking and moving topics to the correct forums. I could do that in my sleep. However, they also have to deal with members--helping them, reforming them, and referring them. This is much more stressful and something that none look forward to. Unless you are a masochist.
Just a fun fact. People users think should bve moderators, never get picked. why? Not because the admins think ignoring users is fun, but because users often see a high post count, and a fake smile, and say "Mod right there" while the admins actually dig deep, and pull the smile to see the person beneath.
Or in the case of cennere, they where like "CEN I CHOOSE YOU!" And he was like "k"
I thought I was crazy for a second. I remember seeing his posts as a mod posts in blue and thinking, "I thought he wasn't a mod? I must be crazy for not realizing it, all his posts are in blue? How did I miss this?" It would explain everything if it just happened recently that's why I did realize he was a mod right away.
But, on topic, Freakenstein would be a great candidate for a mod, but it's up to the mods and admins.
