this is somewhat of a reply to the univere ending thread. does time ever stop. if the universe stops does time apply to the other side of the "wall" what if there was nothing would time still exist. this may be a retarded thread but i just though of it and it intrigued me
Time is man-made, though based off a common, natural occurrence. If the legacy of the universe ends, time could still move forward, but...what's it keeping time for? If everything is gone, then there is no point.
Time is relative to events. We use time to determine in which order events occurred, nothing more. If all existence ended then of course there would be no time. We think of minutes and hours and other measurements of time as a way to create a detailed system by which to gauge the sequence of events, but nothing more. While time is considered a 'dimension' in that one can move from part of it to another, it is a dimension which is reliant on the existence of all other dimensions. Without matter, without events time ceases to exist.
I think it must still go on. by universe stopping do you mean the universe blows up or the end of space? XD id say no matter what anyone watching could count the seconds go by, even if nobody was there. there would have to be absolutely nothing for time not to apply D:
if there were no events, then the "time" between events would skip. so imagine looking at time on a microscopic level so far down that the "line of time" thats feels and looks like this ____________________________ would look like this -------------------. if you could look at the in between there is nothing so even if the gap is ---- ---- larger, nothing has happened to progress time so it will be as if nothing happened at all, now think of the inverse of that where the lines overlap(no key for that) the points at which there are all sorts of different things happening at once in one spot. we would become both times, a split or the beggining of a parallel universe, and so on every fraction, or to use my example, every "-" it would actually be "<", and then the gaps are on one split and overlap on the other, now if i could make an image for this it would look like this with each "-" touching the split of "<", this is what time would look like.
-<_ -<_ -<_ -<_ -<_ -<_ the bottom lines are the ones that continue conitnuasly, the top are the skip a beat ones(or multiple beats) the top is even more odd since it would split in an infinite number of times at once, for ever.
so at the edge of the universe there is a split, always, leading further and further into time in all directions, so imagine just an infinite amount of tentacle like stretches of time everywhere, and each tentacle folds into the rest "weaving" the edge of the universe, expanding it,and so on, while also duplicating and splitting it like cells. now i know that hardely answers what is in the space in which my hypothetical "tentacles" are "weaving" but it is my take on what is AT the edge of the universe. i can only assume more at what is beyond that even..
